D-Link Systems DCS-2136L 1 MP Wireless IP Camera with Color Night Vision (White) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

The worst camera I've ever seen or worked with. Confusing, inflexible, terrible quality, constantly resetting. Pure junk. I'd have given it zero stars if I could have. If you want a camera to see during daylight hours, live only, then this may work for you. If you want to record, forget it. Motion detection is a joke ... it's own light shutting off would re-trigger an event. Did it on all 3 cameras that I tried. If you want pro grade, get pro grade ... it's worth it ... this stuff is worthless.

Promised a lot with larger chip and faster lens. Has severe barrel distortion, looses wifi connection easily, color OK, DCS-2330L is much better cam and works reliably.

Don't buy this DCS-2136L. I was very happy with my DCS-942L, and D-Link in general, so I thought I'd upgrade to this color DCS-2136L, with "color night vision!" It was twice the price, but looked promising, so I ordered it. Well, the "color night vision" turns out to be nothing but a little white light that comes on, not infra-red, and not very effective either. So it really doesn't have night vision. The picture resolution is terrible, even in daylight. Many features only work with Internet Explorer because it needs ActiveX, such as manual video recording to your hard drive. I prefer Google Chrome, but okay, I can live with IE if I must. The worst part is that I can't get "Event Notification" to work at all! That's where the camera emails a video whenever motion is detected. That was the main feature I wanted and it doesn't even work! And I'm a pretty experienced user as I've been using my other D-Link camera for about a year now, so I don't think the problem is "pilot error" on my part. I could go on and slag it more, but let's just say D-Link fumbled the ball on this one.

I have three of these hooked up in my store to a Dlink DNR-312L with a monitor that's on 24/7. Picture quality is good for 780p even at night when the store is closed, but I do have one ceiling light that stays on all the time for security reasons, which helps with the low light problem that I've seen others complain about. Had little to no problem installing and setting up, and would buy again.Delivery was on time.
