Product Photo Copy Stand Solution
Reasonably well made though lacked any instructions, took a little while to work out the camera shoe engage / dis-engage method. Supports camera well. Quite light weight. Overall does a good job for photographing DVD's & Bluray for selling online.

Sturdy enough for very detailed work--at a bargain price.
Before I bought this Albinar model, I considered other big-name copy stands that cost 2-3X as much. I decided to give this model a try after reading a positive, detailed review off the Web. Now, after 6 months of constant use, I'm happy with it: it's reasonably sturdy and performs well enough for my purposes. I do very detailed macro work using this stand at 1:1 magnification using a 36mpx dSLR, which translates to ~ 32X at 100% crop. Work this detailed literally magnifies any problems such as shake or sway of the stand, which I see very little. The biggest problem when using any macro stand for such work is that very slight vibrations will be transmitted to the camera body that could affect sharpness. In other words, a vibration-free work area is as important as a sturdy copy stand.I like the stand, but I still have several complaints. Firstly, for the money they could have used stronger plastic around the head that cranks up and down. On mine, there is a small crack developing but so far does not affect the ability to tighten down the head. Secondly, there is a place on the vertical aluminum shaft where the set screw encounters a hole, and will not tighten. This is sort of annoying, because it's right where I often set the camera distance. My solution has been to add a small platform on the base so the camera can be set tightly. Thirdly, the base plate tightens by hand only and can work itself loose, so you should periodically check this--as well as the position of the lock--so you camera doesn't come crashing down. There is also a brass screw that comes loose and will make the base plate sag under the weight--be sure to keep this tight! In any case, I use backup straps to ensure my camera will not fall. Finally, what is with the $23.60 shipping charge? It doesn't really cost that much to ship this unit. Caveats aside, I'm still happy with this purchase

Entirely as good as I expected!
Assembly was completely straightforward, one big bolt (and washer) in an obvious place, tightened with a provided wrench.I'll be using this with a smaller mirrorless camera (Micro Four Thirds), it feels entirely sturdy enough with that and a macro lens mounted (I'm well within the rated weight capacity). The pillar seems quite rigid -- but my uses are going to be largely with flash, so it would have to be really flimsy to not be good enough. Geared vertical movement, and a locking screw so it won't slip once it's in place, seems to be easy to set up for the exact coverage I need. Quite a good quick-release, too.The tilted pillar makes more of the baseboard available at greater heights, of course. So, there are kinds of work involving bigger subjects, much bigger cameras, or something that this might not be best for, but it's *perfect* for what I needed. And the price is excellent; I would say I'm getting *at least* what I'm paying for!

Good, useful product
Good, useful product, better priced that others but a bit rickety. The top plastic cover on the support post doesn't fit and was off in the box. Won't fit on the top now. Irritating, but not enough to send it back. The support pole could be a bit longer.
