Inexpensive Managed Switch Solution with Intuitive User Interface
When looking for a Managed Switch, I wanted to go with one that would provide the features I needed, with out an over complicated User Interface. Once I figured out how many ports I needed, the next was to go with a product that was known for quality products and simplistic interfaces and that is why I decided to go with the Netgear GS108Tv2. Having used various Netgear products over the years, I was familiar with their small learning curves and their interfaces are generally geared towards people who are both professionals and non-professionals alike. After I unboxed this switch, and plugged it in, I simply followed the instructions that came with it and I was easily able to get it setup, not only to the point of just working as a switch but configuring the more technical features such as Link Aggregation which I needed to support one of my NAS Servers which has Dual Lan Adapters and supported Link Aggregation allowing my to easily increase the through put across my network. The User Interface is Web Based, everything about the interface works perfectly with the exception of the Device View which does not display as it requires Java Support which was taken out of all the web browsers, and to the best of my knowledge Netgear has no intentions of making any changes to correct this. However ,this is not the end of the world as that feature is not required by any means to use or configure the switch. It is more of a GUI Feature that looks nice, but does little for functionality. From a usability aspect, this switch is very easy to setup and keep running, and just takes a little time to get to know it's features and what they do for those who have may be new to networking. For those more advanced, and those used to using Netgear Products, you will find the interface very familiar and easy to navigate,With it's 8 ports, it has more then enough ports for my needs, as I have everything split between what needs to be on a Managed Switch on the Netgear GS108Tv2 and for those that will get little to no benefit from a managed switch, I keep those devices on a standard switch. It is a very reasonable priced switch with a well known name to back it up, and Netgears Support is always available when you need them, usually replying within 24 hours of your report to them. For me, the ease of use, cost, and technical support were the main reasons that I went and purchased this particular Managed Switch.

Initial overheated product but got replaced and FIXED by Netgear!
I bought this for their "Smart"capabilities for my home network. The switch itself works fine BUT it heats like a devil!!When it becomes too hot I found that network shares start freezing on my home network. I thought it was something wrong with my windows machines until I found that this device was running too hot.I swapped the switch with my old D-Link switch (unmanaged and dump switch) and my network issues went away.I don't think there is an easy fix for this and I am concerned that the switch someday burns. I will try checking in forums and new firmware updates BUT that shouldn't happen.I don't recommend this for anyone and if you're looking for a true smart switch try Mikrotik ones.############ Review Update ############After I submitted my original review, I couldn't return this to Amazon as the time limit already expired, so I gave a shot and contacted Netgear tech support directly on their website. I want to highlight that their tech support were AMAZING and quick.Basically they did troubleshoot my problem quickly and determined a hardware problem. Because I live outside of US they engaged a local partner in my country and ship it the replacement that arrived in less than 3 days!!!.I went to their partner's office, pick the new switch, returned the old one without paying an extra penny!!!. Since then I am using the new switch and I had zero issues for several months. I am very pleased now with the support and with the switch and is working like a charm. I updated my rating from 1 star to 5 stars :)I like a lot this switch and combining it with Mikrotik routers will be a hell of combination if you want to scale up a network for your home or office !!!

Works great but instructions didn't help me
The switch works great but it took me awhile to figure how to get it working. I tried following the instructions, however, they didn't work for me at all. It might be because I have this switch plugged into my WiFi router instead of going straight to the modem. Anyhow, I have my reason for setting it up this way. Well, I had to disregard the instructions and instead just plug this switch into my router, then log into my router and find the IP address that the router assigned to the switch. Then go to that address (something like 192.168.1.17). I made sure the DNS service was enabled and set it to the router IP (192.168.1.1). I did all this with only the computer plugged into port 1 and the internet (router) plugged into port 8. Then I started adding my devices (printer, TV, etc) one by one starting at port 2 and going up sequentially. I also went into the DHCP configuration and set the IP address to the IP address of the switch (reported by the router) and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway to 192.168.1.1. Then the switch worked for me. Also, The first thing I did was press the factory reset on the switch before anything else.It was temperamental setting it up but now it runs like a champ.

Very high quality and functional switch, does link aggregation, excellent price
What a great switch. I replaced my older version of it that had no web browser, or link aggregation, but I have used it for many many years too many to remember (I'll keep it around as a backup). I bought this switch for its link aggregation feature. I use link aggregation to connect my upstairs 1GB devices to my downstairs 10GB network where my servers are. I also use link aggregation to connect my ASUS RT-AC5300 since it supports multi-channel 5Ghz. I have had very great success with Netgear switches (My 10GB switch is Netgear too). Extremely reliable, high quality, last forever, and Netgear keeps the firmware updated. I just retired my 1GB Netgear switch, it still works fine (I'll keep it around as a backup to my 10GB switch).

Awesome 8 Port Gigabit Smart Switch Pro Safe
What a good design, well built, heavy and made with metal casing. You can see and feel the quality when you take it in your hands. It's a 8 port Gigabit switch with one POE port. This switch is manageable so you can access all the options either from the IP address Web-Browser or from the application. The only downside is that the application is only for PCs, you can't control it if you're using a Mac. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice Pro Manageable Switch...

Needed a network switch that supported LAG that I could velcro on to some other rack equipment; this fit the bill perfectly and just works. My only complaint is with the power adapter being a tad bit too big to fit in a 2U space on a network rack (the cord ended up bending at a stress point), so I purchased a short 12" power extension cable Monoprice 105296 1-Feet 16AWG Power Extension Cord Cable, Black to alleviate that stress and there have been no issues at all.
