Works for blini, with a few adjustments
I decided to take a chance on this to make my yeasted blini recipe, since I was hoping to make prettier, more perfectly round blini. While you still have to mix this type of batter in a traditional bowl and spoon it into the "pen" - so you can't mix the batter in this - it does work to make more even and discreet blini. However, I would suggest two adjustments:1) remove the nozzle/valve insert so you're left with the open hole. You can invert the nozzle insert to use as a plug between batches and then keep it upright in the proper batter-down position in the base. But blini batter is thicker and stickier than pancake batter and cannot make it through the valve, no matter how hard you squeeze.2) You might want to consider multiplying your blini recipe, at least until you get the hang of using it. Since the batter is thick, it sticks to the insides of the pen. I did end up having to invert to remove the valve on my first attempt - so more batter stuck to the length of the pen then if I hadn't needed to do that - but it's not like you can scrape the batter bowl to get one or two more blini out of the batch once you transfer it to the pen. Normally my recipe makes 16, but I barely got 13 out of this.I did, however, need to get the hang out of squeezing, so if I perfect the squeeze, I could probably get 14 out of this, as long as I don't invert the pen at all. Some of my blini are bigger than others, but they are definitely more pretty and round than when I scoop with a spoon. Overall useful, but it will take some getting used to. (Oh, darn - guess I need to make more blini!)This is very easy to clean, and it is also very easy to squeeze. I have some hand injuries and still had no problems loading, squeezing or cleaning. So I am pleased with this purchase, even if it's not strictly for buttermilk pancakes!

Makes wonderful silver-dollar or shaped pancakes. I make pancakes more often now.
My kids like "silver dollar" size pancakes, and it's a pain to pour that small amount of batter 50 times from my 4-cup pyrex measuring cup. This tool helps me make these small pancakes MUCH easier.Pro's:* easy to fill and dispense* allows you to control size and shape of pancakes* each part can go in the dishwasher (I do rinse out the spout and under the big flat valve before loading it in the dishwasher; before I did that, occasionally those sections didn't get all the way clean)* This size is perfect for us (pancakes for 4 people). If you're making more than that, this might not be big enough (but you could just refill it).Con's:* Mixing the batter in this container doesn't work as well as in a big bowl (lumps, doesn't get fully mixed), so I still use another container for mixing.* Some batter is wasted: the little bit left in the mixing container and the bit left on the sides of this container which is more than I'd like.* When left upside down, with the spout in the cap, it does leak some. So, I just always put it down top-up. The batter moves so easily inside it that this works fine for me.

Fast Pancakes, Perfect Circles, Easy to Clean but not great for Pancake “art”
Neat product that certainly made the morning pancake ritual go faster. I mixed up the batter the night before, stuck the pancake pen in the fridge and was able to quickly make a stack of pancakes before the kids came downstairs. It was super easy to clean as you can unscrew the top and bottom (use a bottle brush). It did not leak batter did not drip everywhere as it would if I used a spoon or measuring cup. For the most part, it was easy to use.The main drawback for me was that I bought it for the purpose of making pancake “art” - just some doodles for the kids to make breakfast more fun. Unfortunately the tip of this “pen” is too wide to draw anything precise. Also the batter did not come out evenly - so try as I might to draw a line, I ended up with circles. As you can see from my pictures, it does make perfect circles. I would need to play around with it some more to see if I can get different thickness in the batter or try some other creative pancake pictures.

Be sure to clean it before you use it
This replaces an earlier model that I bought five years ago. It is easy to use. I use it for pancakes. My wife uses it to make cupcakes and muffins by dispensing them in the muffin pan. I don’t think they sent me a used one, but I’m definitely washing the weird stuff in the picture out before I use it.

Good, but not perfect
I like the idea behind this but it's not perfect.First, you can't fit an entire batch of Bisquick in the container and shake it. Other comments say you can, maybe they're not using Bisquick. A full recipe fills the entire tube minus an inch. No matter how much you shake the thing one end will be dry ingredient and the other will be the liquids. You need to mix the batter in a bowl then pour it in. Second, you need to squeeze it pretty hard which really surprised me. I have to squeeze with both hands. Two things I do like is that both ends unscrew so it's easy to clean. I also like that it has a little base to sit in so that the tube stays vertical in between pancake batches.

It's okay
I had one like this before that go melted in the microwave so I bought this as a replacement. It has a sort of gasket thing over the hole to prevent drips which was an issue with the old one. However it also makes it super hard to squeeze the batter out which I think is more of a pain than the drips. I'm leaving it for the time being to see if it loosens up over time, if not I'm just going to cut a hole in the spout and that should fix the only flaw.

Very small.
Too small. By the time you install the batter into this thing you could have used a laddle and be eating your pancakes.

Making Cake Pops became a piece of cake!
I had bought multi treat maker which could make cake pops, mini cup cakes and donuts. But the problem was I was not able to fill them all before the first few would start over flowing. This made it possible to fill them up super fast. You just squeeze and batter would fill with a flash. I am sure would be cool to fill up regular muffin tins for baking without any mess. Life saver for bakers!

Yorkshire Pudding!
This made ALL the difference in making Yorkshires. I was able to quickly dispense the batter without the pan cooling off. Just what I was looking for!

Hard to squeeze but...
It's harder to squeeze than I thought it would be BUT it work nicely to make mini pancakes . It's in the dishwasher right now . I think it will be easy to clean . I really like the fact that I can put it upside down on the cap to fill it . Overall I would recommend this product .UPDATE : After using twice my hand got sore from having to squeeze to hard so I don't think it's that good for older peoples ... I won't be keeping it
