One was defective
One of the containers has a defective gasket. It is not airtight, as it failed the water test. I resituatee the gasket, thinking that might help, but it still leaked on the corner. This isn't a huge issue of you aren't purchasing these to combat pest control, as I am. Pantry moths and ants can squeeze through the tiniest of spaces, making nonairtight containers useless. I will be returning this set, as they came in a set of two, but I will reorder because I think this was just a defective one. Be sure to test them by filling them with water to see if any leaks out. If water gets out, air (and bugs/larvae) are getting in.

Love the item but had a problem that Amazon took care of. THANK YOU AMAZON Great Customer Service
This is my second time buying this item. I bought the first one to store a 20lb. bag of rice...and yes it fits all 20 lbs.!!! But you do have to take it out of the bag.I placed an order for 2 more containers to store flour and sugar. I decided to check to make sure the new containers were air tight after reading a previous reviewer say there's was not. I put a few cups of water in each one and turned it upside down. One held the water just fine but one leaked. I switched the lids and deducted that it was the top lid that was faulty not the bottom container.I immediately called Amazon customer service and spoke to Ashley B. She was very courteous and professional. She also spoke English with out a heavy foreign accent as some companies like Ebay who farm out their customer service over seas. I explained that one of the lids was faulty and asked if she could mail out another lid. She apologized and said that they could not but offered me a credit.Over all I am VERY HAPPY with Amazon's customer service!!! Keep up the great customer service and I will be a loyal customer in return!

Great size for storage of 10 pound bag of flour, sugar, rice, lentils, dried beans
As someone who bakes their own bread weekly, this is great storage item for 10 pound bags of the different types of flour used for that purpose as well as storage of other frequently used staples. Seals extremely well so flour maintains freshness better than if only left in original packaging. Use labeling from original product packaging to tape to the sides of these containers so there is no confusion as to content and also leave expiration date taped to it for future reference.

THEY ARE GREAT
I started buying these in 2015. I purchased my last set in 2016. It is 2020, what does that tell you? I received them in great shape and they are still in great shape. The seals are still holding and I open and close them frequently. I store flour, sugar, cornmeal, beans and anything that I want to. I love these containers. I will buy them again. I am waiting for them to go a little cheaper so I can buy 2 more. I have not experienced any of the problems mentioned and my containers are going strong. I have 8 of them, need an even 10.

Ordered a set of two containers a couple of days ago. Had high hope after read the positive reviews. we planned to use them to store rice so we can get the pantry more organized. Received the order today and we are totally disappointed!* One of the covers has a long crack across and it almost cut my hand as i was unpacking the box* Product is made of cheap, flimsy plastics* the container is coated with this oily material and i would never use them to store food!

Handy, light duty protection (but not completely airtight due to shipping packaging)
Work to keep mice out; easy to heave around with the handle. Not as good as Lock & Lock in thickness or the robustness of the locks or the number of locks. (L&L has twice as many locks per side. Snapware locks feel like they will break off not to far down the road.)Also, Snapware inserts a piece of cardboard in one corner of the seal for shipping, presumably to manage pressure changes, but the result is that it leaks air at that corner. (You can verify by filling with a few inches of water and turning upside-down.)

Love them!!! *** After two and a half years I love them even more!!
Update: Bought 2 x 40 cup and 2 x 18.5 cup containers in Aug 1916. I now make stew and soups and store them in the refrigerator in these containers. The lids are interchangeable. No problems at all carrying the 40 cup container by the lid's handle when it is full of stew.----------------------------------I bought these to replace a 30 cup round food container I used for salads. I can fit the two 40 cup rectangular containers in the same refrigerator space as the 30 cup container. The lid is securely attached with snaps on all four sides for easy carrying.

Great Storage Container
I love all the Snapware products. I use these large rectangular containers for storage of potato chips, taco chips, store-bought popcorn. In Snapware, you can keep potato chips from breaking down to crumbs like it does when you just leave it in the bag. Because it’s airtight, it keeps food fresher and crispier than leaving in bag. Recently I got pantry moths, probably came from grocery store, and with most of my food products kept in Snapware containers, which they couldn’t get into, I was easily able to eliminate the problem. I also use a Snapware rectangular container with handle on top to store my nebulizer equipment, which I don’t use all the time. This keeps it dry and ready to tote on a trip if need be.
