It all started in 1997, when first-time parents Maurice Pinsonnault and his wife were feeling overwhelmed by the anxiety that all new moms and dads face. Knowing that their baby was sleeping safe and sound when they were not in the room was foremost on their minds. However, they were not at ease with traditional baby monitors, which only transmit sound. They wanted a monitor that could do more - one that would also detect movement, especially the subtle little movements babies make, asleep or awake. Hence Angel care was born. As one of the most trusted and innovative brands for parents worldwide, Angel care provides you with the best baby products to ensure the well-being of your little angels.

I was slightly disappointed with this monitor
I was slightly disappointed with this monitor. We received the older model of this same monitor as a gift with my daughter four years ago and it worked great, we had the sensor pad which sensed her even if she wasn't directly on it and the video was a black and white rather than color like this one. We decided to upgrade when we got pregnant with my son to this monitor.Pros: the camera is a good color and the monitor picks up sound really well. I love the feature on the back of the top of the nursery unit where you can move the camera lens up and down.Cons: First, the sensor pad kind of sucks, my son has to be laying right on the pad in order for it to sense his breathing. He is two-months-old and moves a lot and ends up higher up in the crib. I actually had to stop using the sensor pad because the alarm goes off in a false alarm EVERY NIGHT. The sensor pad is the main reason I bought this monitor in the first place.Second, we purchased the wall mount that was suggested with this monitor and mounted it on the wall above my son's crib. Unless it is bright in the room, the monitor does not have a clear picture when used with the wall mount. It is foggy and we can barely see my son. We had to put the monitor in the crib in order to actually see him. With the older model, the parent unit was touch screen and we could go back and forth to day view vs. night vision. With this one, you cannot. We are going to try to mount the monitor right above the crib back and see if that helps any instead of being father away because it obviously isn't safe to have the monitor in the crib for much longer. As I said, I was disappointed in this monitor considering how pricey it is.

Excellent customer service and good product!
We purchased this unit and liked the way it worked just fine, but after several months of use it ended up having a faulty battery that started losing charge almost immediately after taking it off the charger. Angelcare's customer service was EXCELLENT. They were quick to respond and send us a replacement for our faulty parent unit battery. When we had a similar problem with the replacement several months later, they once again were so helpful and just sent us a brand new monitor. The company definitely stands behind their products, and I would highly recommend purchasing an Angelcare monitor!

Good unit-- one flaw
Love everything it does! Took off one star due to battery life of parent unit. As others mentioned, this is a problem. Mine did not even make it two weeks before needing to be plugged in at all times. Tip-- I plug a battery charger stick for a cell phone into it, so it's still portable.

Don't buy if you plan to ever move it.
I heard such great things about this monitor and thought hey this will be awesome! Well the sensor pad would beep at me several times a night saying baby isn't breathing when in fact he was, he was still on it so it's not like he was over on the side of the crib. The monitor has 3 lines going through it so you can't see the temp of the room. We moved it to a different shelf and guess what- it completely quit working! Won't turn on at all. The the monitor won't charge for some reason now that it was moved to my husbands nightstand... I just ordered another monitor because I'm so sick of this piece of expensive junk. Make something that will last when you spend over $200 on it. Oh we haven't even used it 2 months. TWO MONTHS!

its a good product. The battery life of the monitor works ...
My daughter tends to roll around alot, causing her to get off of the sensor board. Constantly having the alarm go off becuase she was no longer on it. Other than that, its a good product. The battery life of the monitor works just fine for us and tends to last just as long as any other video monitor.update as of 10/20/2017: The angel monitor in my daughters bedroom no longer works. One day I was in her room and noticed a warm, electric like smell and it was the monitor on the wall. The monitor on the screen in my bedroom went black. The monitor no longer works. I would not purchase this item again.

Unit is great, but the battery on the parent unit went dead after 6 months and is no longer able to operate unless plugged in to the charger.Battery cannot be changed, unit is completely sealed. Still awaiting Warranty claim, not sure if it will be covered?

Would of returned if I could
I love everything about this product the screen, the breathing monitor, the night light on the monitor. But the volume is too low and can't be turned up any higher. When you are two exhausted parents with a newborn. I needed this volume louder so I could hear my daughter crying across the hall. I wish I would of tested this product out before I got rid of the box, because I would of returned it.

We purchased this monitor in 2016 and we love it! We have brought it everywhere with us
We purchased this monitor in 2016 and we love it! We have brought it everywhere with us! After getting the sensitivity settings just right we only have false alarms when he is in the very far corner of the bed! The only negative is the parent unit cord it doesn't charge unless the cord is wrapped around the unit and plugged directly into the wall and not the power strip and it the parent unit does not hold a charge anymore, I love the nightlight feature on the base unit! We leave it on all the time, the angel shape is peaceful and calming. When we have our next baby we will be purchasing another ANGELCARE unit!

...has provided my wife and I with tremendous peace of mind at night...
So far, I have had no issues with this monitor. As others have pointed out, the range is incredible. My daughter sleeps on the top floor of our 2-story house and the signal is still very strong in the basement. I can also use this outside, pretty much anywhere on my property (a standard city sized lot). The battery life is acceptable, but I would prefer if it lasted a bit longer. The camera itself uses a couple of AA batteries as backup incase of a power outage, but for the most part it will be plugged into the wall, so battery life is not an issue here. The receiving unit that you carry around with you has a built in Li-Ion battery that lasts for appx. 2-3 hours. Turning off the video and receiving audio only will most likely increase the run time. When we go to bed, we simply keep the receiver plugged in on our nightstand. This unit has a lot of features. The camera has a built in night-light (it is not very bright, though) and a night vision mode that works very well. There is a power toggle on the side of the unit behind one of the "wings". The receiver has volume controls, video on/off, and zoom buttons. Digging into the menu will reveal several preferences that allow you to adjust things like motion sensor sensitivity and system sounds. The menu can be hard to use at times, but when you have the monitor set up the way you like it you will not often need to make more adjustments. The Angel Care company won't outright state that the motion sensor is used to detect apnea (the absence of breathing), most likely for legal reasons, but I think most people know that this is what the pad is truly designed for. At the default setting, the alarm will go off 20 seconds after we take our daughter out of the crib. We haven't experienced a single false alarm with our daughter in the crib yet. Even if our daughter is lying dead still, the pad will still detect the tiniest movements she makes from inhaling and exhaling. Depending on your living situation, you may have to increase or decrease the pads sensitivity (for example, if you have a washing machine running a spin cycle close to babies room, it might pick up that motion and not function as intended). To ensure sensitivity is correct, simply place your child in the crib and ensure the alarm doesn't go off. Take your child out and wait 20 seconds. If the alarm sounds, you are set. If the alarm does not go off, you need to decrease sensitivity because it is picking up motion from elsewhere. At the end of the day, this feature has provided my wife and I with tremendous peace of mind at night, and I can't imagine not having it.Proper setup will take approximately 20 minutes. The motion detector pad needs to be placed under your child's mattress. You then need to run the wire out the side of the crib and down to the floor, ensuring it is kept in place by the included plastic runners which are intended to prevent strangulation. Take your time to get this right, it is important! The wire then plugs into the camera, the camera is placed in position and aimed, and you are set!All in all this was a great purchase and I can fully recommend it to all parents. It would be nice if the battery life was a bit longer, but it is still perfectly functional the way it is now.UPDATE: I originally wrote this review in August of 2016, and this update is from August of 2018 (2 years of use...every single day). This monitor is still going strong and has not let us down on a single occasion. My oldest no longer needs to be monitored, but we just had our second child in June of 2018 and we are still using this. The battery life has decreased 15%-20%, but it usually remains plugged in on our nightstand so this has not posed any issues. I would also like to take the time to praise the durability of this unit. One night at bathtime my daughter grabbed the video screen and tossed it in the bathtub full of water. It all happened so fast, but I was able to react quickly and get it out of the water within seconds (but not before it was fully submerged). Immediately turned it off and put it in a bag of rice. Several days later, I turned it back on and it worked as good as it alway has.TLDR: Buy this monitor. You won't regret it!

Only worked for 2 weeks
We ordered this monitor in preparation for our baby so it was past the return window when we actually started using it. It was so nice to be able to check the video monitor instead of having to sneak into the room and risk waking her, plus the added benefit of having the movement pad helped us sleep better on her first nights in her own room.. after only 2 weeks of using it, the parent unit only held a charge for a couple hours and then it stopped working all together. I've been dealing with angelcare for almost 3 months now trying to get it fixed or replaced, I haven't heard back from anyone after finding out they'd need to replace it. I wouldn't recommend any new parents waste what precious time you have dealing with this company, spending this much you'd expect it to work longer than 2 weeks.

Two Days in. Not a very good start.
Coming from a Simplicam Wifi Camera so it's tough comparing video quality. The Simplicam was light years better for video quality, but had to disconnect as we heard random typing and doors closing on the feed.I've only had this hooked up for two nights. So far, I notice nothing but cons.1) It's incredibly hard to get the camera in the right position to see the entire crib. My kid is 1, and she moves a lot. So I see her at 8pm, but not at 11pm. Actually I can't tell if I can see her because the video quality is awful. Wondering if it's her teddy bear or the back of her head currently.2) The menu is dated. Dated as in...there are no words. There is no ON, OFF, or what is what. I guess OFF is blue and ON and green. Whatever.3) Night 2 and my kid is asleep without complaining about it for the first time ever. I turned on the screen unit, and noticed the battery was dead. So my unit beeped loudly. It also beeped on the actual unit on the crib, which has now awakened her to screams and cries. So far this isn't going very well. Other than the fact its a dedicated monitor with the convenience of just turning it on and going, I consider this thing to be a piece of junk. I'm heavily leaning towards returning and getting something better. A little more 21st century.

The battery will last for 3-4 months
I have been through 3 of these in a year. Angelcare was difficult to deal with, on the first one that broke we had to argue with them to get a replacement battery, after months of waiting it came but didn’t work. We bought a second one hoping it was just a one off. That one also broke in 3-4 months. The third one we bought, was the same model because it was the only one left at the store and we had to get something. My baby is 11 months old and we have been through 3 of these. Don’t buy this product.

Disappointing
We really wanted to love this product. The parent unit died on us and they replaced it, but the cable wouldn't charge anymore. We never heard back from the company. The night vision was also very poor. In the end we just went out and bought a different unit/brand. I wouldn't go back to angelcare after all of that.
