Dropped connection frequently
While the speed is ok, it dropped connection to disk drives frequently making this not useable for the Mac. It was returned after a few days of testing.

HighPoint RocketU 4-port USB 3.0 card rocks!
The HighPoint RockeU 1144CM USB 3.0 card installs easily and works great, it actually solved some conflicts caused when I use an external LaCie D2 drive- the D2 drive had other ports I'd tried that either caused slow or stalled boots and shutdowns on my MacPro. I have a RAID card installed as well, with another mass storage device connected via SATA. I use both drives for Time Machine backups for separate boot drives on my MacPro, and until I installed the 1144CM card and ran the D2 on it, I also encountered Time Machine backup conflicts.I no longer encounter the Time Machine or boot or shutdown problems, and the D2 drive runs so much faster on USB 3.0 than it did on either SATA or FireWire 800 that it surprised me.I thought I'd bought a stinker with this 3TB D2 external drive until I saw what it could do on USB 3.0, which evidently was what LaCie optimized it to run on. (It also auto-powers up and down properly, which it never seemed to do with the other port connections.)I love the RocketU 1144CM card and recommend it to Mac Users looking to add USB 3.0 to their MacPros. (Works with Mountain Lion, Lion, and Snow Leopard.)

Good for Hard Drives, not good for devices
Note that this adapter does not hook up to USB devices like a hub with a mouse and a keyboard--it only recognizes hard drives. I initially bought this card expecting it to do both, but I was disappointed that only direct USB 3 hard drives worked in a 4-port card.On the plus side, this card has some very nice hardware features that make it great for external storage. Most USB 3 cards require an additional power connection for USB device power, as they do not draw off of the PCI-E bus. For something like a 2010 Mac Pro that has all four hard drive slots filled, getting another 5V power connector into the PCI slot area can be difficult and, potentially, warranty-voiding.Fortunately, this card has four separate electronic circuits that independently supply the 5V and 900 mA required by the USB 3 standard...right from the power in the computer's internal PCI-E bus. As an Electrical Engineer who builds power electronic devices, I noticed this feature by looking at the picture of the card on Amazon, and I my suspicions were confirmed on trying out the card with a hard drive. The card I got was not 100% new, though, as it had been returned before. I was able to deduce that fact by the virtue of the anti-static bag having the remains of two stickers on it... so watch for that--i.e. the product was "refurbished," but "like new."If this card handled devices like mice, keyboards, or displays on a hub, this would be a 5-star product. I don't have a USB 3 hub so I can't vouch for multiple hard drives per port. Again, my main draw to this product is that it is able to supply power to each port without needing a hookup from a 4-pin connector inside the computer, like you see with almost every other USB 3 card. If you only need to connect hard drives to your computer, then this card is a great option, and I would recommend it.

Does not work with Bluetooth Mouse...
Over the past two weeks, in an attempt to get USB 3.0 working on my 5.1, mid-2013 Mac Pro (purchased the same day the Black Cylinder was announced) running OSX 10.8.5, I purchased and installed the Orico and CalDigit cards. Neither worked, with Bluetooth interference, kernel panics, corrupted Suitcase Font Vault issues, etc.The RocketU 1144CM card was apparently compatible with Mac Pro and Mountain Lion. I was willing to accept the fact that the card would only work with Hard Drives. All of the drives mounted, and I was able to write to them, but I was immediately bedeviled by the cursor of my "Magic Mouse" (the one that ships with my Mac Pro), moving in a jerky, and slow fashion. I downloaded a more recent driver from the High Point website. Same result.I am returning the card, because I need Bluetooth working, and I like my Magic Mouse. Very disappointing result, because I was hoping that this card would work, where the Orico and CalDigit failed.I did see there is a later version of the card, the 1144E. I really wish I had known about that first, but I am unwilling to try to install a fourth card, since I suspect the result will be the same.I would love to know if anyone has experienced the same Bluetooth issues, and solved them.

Ottimo!
