Pretty Decent In Most Ways
Love the headset. Microphone picks up great quality sounds and the ear phones crystal clear sound. Love the fact the mic is flexible around your mouth and lets you adjust it closer or further from your mouth depends on how loud you speak. That was wonderful.Pretty decent to cancel out little bit of outside noise but not enough to mute which I like because I still want to hear whats going on around me.The jacks work perfectly I like the fact it wasn't a USB port so that was brilliant. The ear phones fit perfectly to your ears it's like two pillows on your ears it was a dream when I had it on the first time though after about 2 - 3 hours it would get to be like it didn't have the comfort pads anymore I would have to take it off for about 10 to 15 minutes at a time.Headset adjusts beautifully around your head. Also I would like to add that it is very comfortable. After about 3 and a half months the mic started falling it wouldn't stay up to my mouth. I dabbed a bit of super glue on it and it stayed for another month I just finally got frustrated and pissed off I pulled the mic off.So I ended up buying another one I couldn't resist I loved this product very much. Also after 3 and so months the ear phones started getting a tad static to it and would force me to turn the volume all the way up because they started wearing out just a bit. When you record yourself it's not all too great to me anyways I love high quality recordings. If you're working on a voice over for your cartoons and what not I would recommend something a bit more expensive this is just way too cheap for that kind of stuff. This headset worked brilliantly with skype, windows live messenger, oovoo, gaming, video chats, recording, AIM, FB etc...I know skype though for a fact since I use it all the time. I have used it on every other messenger an it works just as good I know I wouldn't complain much about this product. Also arrived on time took it out of it's package brand new nothing wrong with it just plugged it in went to my sounds didn't take much to set it up just enabled it was all I did. The called someone on skype and they loved how I sounded so much they brought one themselves.Cheap and high quality. Not much to complain about there.

So far so good - sounds great - mic may emit very slight hum in recordings
Purchased this headset 1/25/2012. The fit is comfortable and they sound great. Many of the reviews don't take into account how others hear you via the mic. I just now used the Windows sound recorder to record my voice, and it picks up my voice fine, but there is a slight hum in the background. Note that hum is often caused by having the "microphone boost" turned on in your settings (in Windows: Control Panel-> Sounds and Audio Tab -> Sound Recording -> Volume -> Advanced). I have microphone boost off. I tried a different mic, and there was no hum. Then I re-tried this mic (the one I'm reviewing) on a different computer, there was no hum when recording my voice. The 2nd computer was Windows 7 and the first was Windows XP, so it may be that my Windows 7 machine (or sound card) has some sort of hum elimination filter.Otherwise, incoming sound is great, comfort is good, and has worked well for the 4 months I've had it. I've ordered a 2nd pair for another computer. I'll test the new pair to see if it has the same hum issue when recording.I noticed a couple of 1-star reviews stating that the mic quit working after a few months. Note that with any low-end headset, you have to be very careful not to pull on the cord where it connects on either end. This is easily done accidentally when moving around. Don't let the weight of the volume control on the cord hang down and pull on the headset. Such can cause bad connections.Update: got the new pair -- and no hum in my recording test.

Two years and still going strong.
When I pay $15 (the price has actually gone down from two years ago!) for something electronic related, I don't expect it to last for very long. According to my account history, I ordered these 2 years and 24 days ago. And they are still going strong after almost daily use. I mostly use them for just the headset, but I use the mic every so often (as recently as last week) on both Skype and Ventrilo and have never had anyone complain about volume or quality while I'm using it. The only thing that has "broken" on these is that the little sponge cover for the mic slid off and I'm sure it's around here somewhere if I bothered looking for it. This is after I've clumsily just about ripped it out of my computer too by getting my foot caught in the cord and trying to take it into the next room with me.Speaking of the cord, it's extra long which is great for me cause I have a weird setup where it has to go under and behind my desk to plug into my computer. My last set of headphones was constantly pulling on my head because the cord wasn't long enough to make the journey it needed to. If you don't need that much length, it would be easy enough to use a small cable tie to bunch it up.If these were to break tomorrow (which I don't foresee happening), I would gladly buy another set.

LONG cable, cheap price, and mediocre quality. What more do you expect for $15?
If you want a cheap headset for gaming or video chat and you don't have a very big head these are a decent option. When recording audio, background noise is apparent and takes the form of a "low hum" that many other cheap headsets have. This can be minimized with Audacity but I would definitely not recommend these for podcasting or anything else where clarity is necessary. The cord is nice and long and it's reasonably comfortable if you don't have a big head. Otherwise, there isn't much else to say. People giving this item one star are obviously setting their expectations too high. It costs as much as two meals from McDonalds, people!Overall I would recommend these if you need a super budget headset with a longer cable. Please be aware that this does NOT connect through USB, however.

Better for gaming than most of the expensive headsets out there, for a fraction of the money.
Love the AC-401.These days it seem to be all about the bass, but here's my take...The AC-401 plays the full 20~20000 range, has a decent and balanced bass. They are no audiophile gear, but they're not lousy either. My pals actually sound like themselves when I chat with them using these. The design is "on-ear", so I don't get disgustingly sweaty around the ears when gaming in long stretches. The ear pads are a velvet fabric which breathes, so again, less sweat and more comfort. They do not cut-off all external sounds, so the user doesn't end up screaming because he can actually hear himself.AC-401 Pros- They are a great bargain and fantastic value ( I paid around 16$)- Users can hear their voices, so they don't end-up screaming when conversing.- Nice balanced sound, if you keep the volume decent.- Built for PC, no clumsy adapter.- Better and thicker wire than models built for phone jacks.AC-401 Cons- Your teenage kid might not like them because the bass response is "normal"- No adapter for cell phonesI Would love to find the (unfortunately) discontinued AC-645, which are my all-time favorites, but they are no longer made.

two serious issues make these a bad buy
I really tried to like these. There is a 5 star review on here (with what sounds like 3 star language) and these get great reviews on other sites. But what I found was a good fitting headphone with muffled sound (too bassy and hard to make out words unless you turn it up loud) and perfect sounding microphone with a very unfortunate low hum that was loud enough to spoil recordings. So if you just want them for voice dictation then they are probably quite good, but for voip calling or recording to video they are not. I went back to my name brand headphones even though the microphone won't stay in place. They are still much, much better. I really wish these were as good as so many people seem to think.

Recommended for the price
Nice quality headphones for the price. I've been using these daily for a couple of years and they still work fine. The microphone is now a bit loose, and tends to get in the way when I'm not using it, which is a bit annoying. Also, the cord is very, VERY long. I had to tangle it so it's not always messing around. The sound quality is standard and needs nothing more to make and receive calls. Overall, a nice product!

Wow!
This is my second pair of these headsets since the previous pair is more than 4 years old and it's dying from daily use.Amazing sound quality, clear treble with slightly heavier bass. I personally like heavier bass so that's no issue for me. Speech recording is also clear with very minimal background noise. The foam padding is very comfortable, though I can only wear it for a few hours at a time before it starts to hurt.Overall, it's a terrific pair of headsets, especially for this price!
