Bought this for husband's knee fracture. Worked well for a little less than 2 months, then noticed sparks/ arcs flying in the microwave one day while heating it- I was like, "what was that?" When he went to warm it again for his knee, sparks flew again. We stopped the microwave, and checked the heating pad. Googled "why sparks fly in microwave" and it said it's because of metal particles. Well, there were no metal particles embedded in the pad's surface, the felt was solid and no breakage. We could not understand why. Obviously we are not going to microwave this product again, in case there is an explosion in our microwave. We are so pissed. What a waste of money. And of course this happened 1 month after the return period (return period is for exactly one month). We are buying a hot water bottle for his knee now. (Microwave has no sparks heating food or anything else- just for this pad)

I have used these heat packs for more than 10 years in my neuromuscular clinic. They last a long time with daily use. I replace them about once every year.It is important to make sure the microwave is spotless inside. Any dirt or food residue will cause the cover to develope burn spots that gets worse with each use.They provide nice even heat. I usually put a moist cloth in corner of microwave while heating the pad. I then use a dry towel next to skin to add a little more insulation, and then add an additional towel on top of the pad to hold the heat in.Carol

Very happy with this purchase. Unfortunately, I've developed a lower back issue & the combination of cold compresses followed by heat help get my day off to a better start. I followed the advice of a former reviewer, and put the pad on a plate while heating it. My microwave is 1000 watts & heating for 90 seconds gives me 20 minutes of warm comfort & the size is perfect. I would recommend this if you're looking for an alternative to an electrical plug-in pad.

I've used this product for years, but the last 4 of them have sprung leaks in the microwave, allowing the beads to escape. The holes seem to be always along a seam. Don't know what's gone wrong on the mfg line, but until it's fixed I recommend not buying this item.

I would not buy another one of these pads as it never held the heat like I had with another one I had for several years. I purchased this one 3 months ago and now it is leaking these little white beads because a side seam was glued and not sewn. Would definitely not recommend.

Disappointing. It is NOT flexible. The beads are covered with a material called interfacing. Interfacing is used to stiffen collars and cuffs. Flexible it isn't. Great for the back, heat lasts at the most for about 10 minutes, not 30 minutes. If you want to use it on the face or eyes forget it. The material isn't flexible. Yep, that word again. I wanted a flexible gel beads heating pad. I had one. Bought years ago, now I can't replace it. I would love to find a gel bead heating pad that is soft and flexible. I don't know where to find one.

This is not a useful or helpful product. I nuked it as instructed for two minutes and applied it to the affected area. It was too cool to be useful after three minutes. The heat dissipated completely. And of course, you can only use it once every two hours. I got better results from the damp towel I was using

Heats in a timely manor. Didn't hold the heat as long as my old gell pad. However, does the job for a short time.
