How long do they last before you need to change them?

Short answer:  Not very often, maybe 2x-3x longer than coated Elixirs.   This is really good question.  In my experience, guitar players change strings either because they sound dead or because they have begun to deteriorate and feel harsh.  Some change strings weekly while others will go a year or more depending on playtime and individual body chemistry.  To address the former, I recently restrung a guitar (strings at least a year old) that I gifted a friend.  I was surprised how little tonal difference the new strings made.  As to the latter, the old strings displayed virtually no deterioration.  The smooth wrappings tend not to collect dirt and oils the way round wrap strings can.  If you wipe your strings down after playing and occasionally use a string lube (I use Dunlap Ultraglide 65) you’ll be please at how long they will feel gig ready.  Of course, the best thing about Magma strings are how quiet they are, no annoying “zip” sound. Awesome when you record. I hope you like them as well as I do.

Do these have a mellow sound?

They are made of phosphor bronze round wound and then they are flattened. This process provides higher volume, brilliance and sustain than the traditional flat strings.
The soft and smooth surface eliminates the finger noise and squeaks, providing a clear and deep sound. Besides, the duration of these FLAT strings is higher than the duration of the round wound strings. They are great for live performances and recording.

Question 3

Can i get single strings i have 3 sets of these but have broke the d string on all 3 sets i need 3 d strings,and im not buying another complete set ?

I broke a string upon installation. I’ve never done that before. I’m not buying those strings anymore. I’m using flat top d’addario and I like them.

Do the ends have loops or a pin with a hole in it that could fit over a small pin ? Also are these light or medium gauge

These strings have a ball-end on them, they are for acoustics which take steel strings and use pins to secure the ball-end of the string in the hole. If your guitar has nylon loop-end strings, your best bet is to take it to a guitar technician at your local music shop to find out if the instrument is made to take steel strings; you might otherwise damage your guitar. They come in a variety of gauge sizes; the .010 - .048 are light gauge strings, .012 - .056 are medium gauge strings.
