Yes it is. However you'd get more out of it if you replace the speakers. Stock speakers can't handle too much power and will distort. You can keep the stock head unit though. It won't make too much difference.

when hooking this amp to my factory head unit, which is a 2015 wrx base, would I run the wires to the deck, or each speaker? the battery would power?

You will need to splice into the speaker wires, which is easiest to do behind the deck. The power must come from the battery, the fuse on the factory stereo is not sufficient. Does the Clarion XC1410 generate cleaner power than the Alpine KTP-445U ? Trying to decide which one is better to push my Polk DB speakers.

I am currently running XC1410 with a DB speakers and they are good, but not great. For the price its the best you are going to get with a stock head unit. I went with the XC1410 to give my stock head unit more power and it really did clear up the sound and increase the volume on my speakers. If you are planing on keeping your stock head unit to keep your steering wheel controls and OEM look this is the way to go. I highly recommend it.
