Fantastic outdoor speakers for a large area.
These speakers are so impressive, I just love them. The 10" woofer is excellent at bass. Best 10 I have heard. They go so loud it is almost funny, we are in real private place so not a problem for us. Sound good and controlled at all volumes. I am driving them with a Sonos amp. 250 watts a channel into 4 ohms. The mount works very well. Build is at a very high level. On the negative side, they are BIG, I was shocked "oh my what have I done" but once installed not a problem. I did not need the 8 pound transformer in each one so I removed to make a bit lighter. (find on internet) On certain pieces of music I can hear a bit of "color" from the cabinet but it is not a big deal or problem. Just be sure you have space for these and a big area to fill sound with, also need good power I would say 250 watts minimum. I am happy with the Sonos as it allows me to control volume with my phone. Do not try to run these speakers off your receivers "B" Speaker, it does not have enough power. I tried.

Awesome sound and very loud
I’ve gone through several sets of outdoor speakers to get volume and clarity. Top of the line PSB, Revel, and even doubling up speakers to add a few more DB. The JBLs are much louder with very strong tight bass response. They can get a bit shrill at highest volume but at that volume your ears will experience pain if within 30ft if the speakers. Very good sound otherwise. I had to drive these with an EMOTIVA DR2 amp @800 watts per channel to get the strong bass response. I was driving them with a Parasound Halo a21 but more power was needed. The DR2 is fantastic btw.

Full Sound with Plenty of Bass
Out with the Yamaha and in with JBL. Power hungry but worth every penny. Amazing sound for my back yard.

Most Enjoyable
These replaced a pair of top of the line Boston Acoustics outdoor speakers by my pool in the back yard. Was never really happy with the fidelity of the Bostons & was on the lookout for something better for quite some time. On a family trip to Six Flags over Georgia a few years ago, my ears perked up when I heard the speakers being used to distribute sound through the park. I could see that they were JBL's but there was no way for me to get close enough to them to determine the model designation. The next day we spent the day at the White Water park, which is also operated by Six Flags. Rented a cabana & was again impressed by the fidelity of their speakers there. To satisfy my curiosity, I discreetly sneaked behind a barrier to get a closer look at one of the speakers & determined the model to be a Control 29AV. After a bit of research & deliberation I decided to go for it & opted to get the Control 30's simply because they were a bit larger with bigger bass drivers. I have them wired to an amplifier in my garage that in turn is tied in to my Sonos system, so I can control everything with my phone. Initially I was powering them with a Sonos amp but felt that they needed more than the 50 watts that amp provided, so I ultimately upgraded to a much beefier ATI amplifier & the results have been fantastic. The JBL's will take whatever I throw at them & have demonstrated both the finesse required for soft & mellow tunes to the power & scale needed to rock hard! I really can't crank the volume all the way (out of respect for my neighbors), but they will go quite loud without breaking up. The invisiball mounting system allows fairly easy adjustment of speaker direction (just be aware these speakers are HEAVY & you may want a second set of hands to either adjust the aim or tighten the mounting system, although I have managed to do it alone), and they have endured many violent storms and season changes with no damage. These checked the boxes that were important to me: weatherproof construction and excellent fidelity. Since installing these I have had no further fantasies of getting "something better." Highly recommended.

Great pool speakers
I am driving these from an automotive stereo (simple bridged amplifier), powered from a computer power supply, housed in a plastic outdoor storage box. These speakers are mounted to posts around our swimming pool. I had some smaller outdoor speakers, but these obliterate them. Sound level is very high, such that I need to turn down the car stereo to have a conversation. Every year, when I mount these outside in the spring and begin to listen, I am shocked by the low distortion and 'presence' of these speakers when listening to radio station broadcasts that I have been hearing on other stereo systems (car/home). These are left outside all summer long. After about 5 seasons, they sound as good as day number 1. The cabinet finish has suffered a few scrapes, but other than that, excellent purchase. My speakers are white, I don't believe this is still an option.
