Chevy W4500 Tiltmaster Alternator
UPDATE: Alternator went bad after one month but very satisfied with my return/refund transaction, Customer service was very responsive. Good for a couple of years at best
I've bought several of these over the years. Only good thing is the price, $150 vs what Isuzu would charge (I'm not sure they even sell this anymore). I don't think I've ever had one last 2 years and the one time I had one fail under warranty, they had me send it in for testing (I had to buy a replacement so I could run while it was out). Their bench test came back good, but I'm telling you, the voltage regulator was going. Same thing happens on all of them after a while either the voltage output starts to go down OR sometimes it will go way up. Had a previous unit start putting out 17 volts. Right now I am going to have to buy a replacement (elsewhere!) because the current one output voltage is up to 15 volts. Doesn't seem to matter the supplier, I think they all come from the same factory using the same low-quality voltage regulator inside.

Great price, however vacuum pump failed in first week ...
Great price, however vacuum pump failed in first week had to swap with old one. Made increasingly loud grinding sound, seemed to be be binding because of manufacture defect, out of tolerance.

Worthless, does not charge properly.
This alternator failed to charge out the box. Installed with a new battery. System voltage starts at 12.5 @ idle with no load. As soon as a load is put on it (headlights, blower etc) the system voltage steadily drops. Revving the engine gets you maybe 12.4v. Just off idle with no load charges at 14.2v. Do not waste your time with these alternators. Spend the additional $200 and get one from NAPA.
