Coleman 12 x 12 ft. All Day Dome Shelter

It's great for the price. Had three issues with it: the instructions are LOUSY, the corner hooks started to rust in less than 24 hrs on the beach (I'll concede that with the salty air), and two of the pole connectors pulled out during dis-assembly. It took four of us a while to get it up in the sea breeze. At home, I did it alone (no wind) in a fraction of the time. Here's how: put all the post together. attach the base (make sure alignment is correct to lock in place) to an arch and Velcro it to the canopy; let it drop. Velcro another arch (with base) to the opposite side of the canopy and attach the center dome post. You might need to put a few temporary stakes in (I didn't) depending on the wind. Velcro the other two arches, stick them in the bases, then connect the two remaining dome pieces.PS - I was able to push the pole connectors that came out with a flat tip screwdriver.

This thing is great. Relatively easy to set up and is very sturdy. Not entirely water proof but well within reason considering the price. We love it.

Horrible to assemble

I had high hopes for this shade. It has a couple of problems that hold it back. First, it is pretty low in height. I'm not to tall at 5'8" and found it really annoying to always duck going in and out like it were a 4 man tent. Trust me, that does get annoying after the tenth time. Also it has a metal pole frame system that is quite cumbersome to set up for one person. The shade velcros to this frame. I would have been happier if they had gone the tent route and had fiberglass poles that slide into sewn pole pouches like a tent.Good points: the quality is top notch and the system seems like it would be very secure in a strong wind.

Setting up this tent is definitely more time consuming than the four leg pop up tents. I used it at the beach and it works extremely well in the windy/sunny conditions, HOWEVER, don't try it alone and do a practice run before hand because you'll waste precious beach time and look silly trying to figure this thing out while everyone stares at you and your bright yellow canopy. It took me over an hour to put it together straight out of the box, and I'm a handy DIYer. Shade coverage at morning, noon, and afternoon was perfect. Plenty of room for the children to roam while staying covered. A light rain came and tent handled great...rain didn't blow under the low arched clearance. Besides needing two people to setup quickly, another issue is the metal frame doesn't handle the sand well. During disassembly I had a tough time with a few pieces which were very difficult to pull apart because sand lodged between male/female connections during assembly. Great tent but tough assembly especially if you're doing it alone.

Relatively easy but time consuming set-up. Also bigger than any canopy I have had before and takes a large footprint. Made for a funny campsite set-up for the first time, but next time will be much better.I strongly recommend using the guide like the instructions tell you (I was too smart for that, led to my campsite usage woes). I promise I will always use this in the future.My wife HATED the dome canopy when I bought it, disliked it when I set up camp, then came around as our long weekend progressed. We had a sunny weekend and she liked the brightness underneath and agreed that it would be awesome in the rain. I also had a couple peeps stop by to ask about it as they were intrigued.Top marks except for lengthy set-up time.

This Dome Shelter worked very well to provide shade from sun on beach and shelter from when a rain shower pasted over. The set up is fairly easy especially if four people work together. The only issue was making sure the feet are lined up to accept the metal pole to lock it into place. I highly recommend the Dome Shelter for sun shade and protection from rain or wind.

The Coleman C001 12x12 all day'er is fantastic and a very well constructed product. It is exactly what we were looking for: shade and shelter!This behemoth has a large footprint, and we only had the chance to put it up in our backyard on a calm sunny day. It does weigh quite a bit if lugging it around on your own, the metal frame takes up most of the weight.Though it has the potential to be rated the full 5 stars, if we had tested it against the elements, I'm happy with the purchase.
