Found my beauty
I have been searching for a perfect 27in UHD monitor for quite a while, and I think tried almost all the models on the market (LG, Dell, BenQ, Asus, ViewSonic). This one was last one on my list, and primarily because there were not enough reviews and price was higher than competitors. But I got tired with competitors cutting the corners and dropping the ball on various issues that are important to me, so I decided to step up the price a bit to see if NEC could be any better. That was a good decision.I am using it for software development, photos, videos and web browsing. It excels at all those modes. Text is bright and clear even in lower brightness. Blacks are really dark with the help of Black level feature. With the help of uniformity feature, white background is even (which is a problem for almost all the UHD LED manufacturers). Colors are accurate. Display itself looks nice, and menu is rich with features, some of which I still need to play with. The design is industrial, but well thought through. In fact, this monitor was the fastest to set up due to the way they decided to package it (no assembly required) and settings working well out of box - no need to tweak much.Things to be desired are mostly on the software side: there is no multiframe utility (like in BenQ, Dell or ASUS), there is no way to control monitor settings like brighness from PC application (useful if your monitor is far, BenQ and Dell are providing such). Also surprisingly there are no presets for various color modes (movie, standard, sRGB) - almost everyone else has it. But I should admit that I like NEC picture most, so this is a keeper.

Good quality monitor but quit after only 18 months of light duty use. POS
I used this monitor for photo quality editing and regular business applications. It worked fine for 18 months and just went black. The NEC warranty is no good, and the seller does not feel any need to assist with a replacement. If you purchase an NEC product, get it from a local dealer you can talk to face to face. I will not be using or purchasing an NEC product of any kind in the future because the ROI and customer service are both poor. You'd think a $650 monitor would last for at least three years.

Quality product. Abysmal customer service from NEC
I purchased (3) of the QHD version of this monitor from NEC and in order to return (2) of them that I never opened / were still factory sealed, I had to plead my case to the returns department. The NEC returns department requires multiple follow up emails detailing why you want to return an unopened product. Then once all explanations are provided: "You'll receive a response in 5 days." Shockingly bad customer service from a respected electronics brand. As far as NEC is concerned, you have to prove you have a valid reason to return an unopened product. I felt like I was dealing with a company in the 1990s, and I would imagine the rest of their "customer service" philosophies are in line with this one. It's truly a shame, because the product is solid. Be sure to buy from Amazon if you want to pick up anything NEC - and hope you don't have to deal with their customer service department.

Great colors and uniform light, seems to have a bug in power save mode. I don't recommend.
This is a pro monitor. Great colors and uniform light. The plastic around the screen is pretty loose.JUNE 2018 UPDATE: after using it for a few months, I noticed that there's no option to disable the power save mode when there's no signal. I tried HDMI and DP ports. When Windows turns off monitor, it randomly turns on, shows no signal box, and then turns off. And it keeps doing this in a loop. Pretty annoying and is not saving power or monitor.DEC 2018 UPDATE: After two months of back and forth debugging the power save issue with NEC customer support, it turns out to be be a bug that they keep blaming on the cable. I tried the included cable, bought VESA certified cables, and tried every cable I could find and none resolve the power save issue. All the cables I tried work perfectly fine with other 4K monitors. The issue is easy to repro using DP 4K 60Hz resolution and putting monitor to sleep. On Windows 10, user lock will put computer to sleep after a minute and then you will see the monitor keeps waking up every few seconds to tell you there's no signal. This will kill the monitor fast. NEC recommends manually turning on and off the monitor. How's that for you?OTHER THOUGHTS: NEC support at first was amazing, sent me replacement monitor without taking any of my info (no CC) besides address and name. I was supposed to send back my monitor in the same box the replacement came in. But the replacement monitor has the same power save issue. Customer support said their engineers have reproduced the issue on their monitors, but there's no fix, no firmware, no nothing. Business class monitor with serious flaw. You can find better monitors for much less money now. I don't recommend this monitor to anyone anymore.EVEN MORE THOUGHTS: Replacement monitors are refurbished units if your monitor is older than one month. My replacement unit came with a pink smudge on LCD visible on dark backgrounds. Obviously I kept my monitor and sent back the replacement.

Excellent monitor!
Excellent monitor! I'm not a gamer but for everything else its great. So far (2 weeks) I'm getting happier with it every day. The screen is crisp and clean. Colors are accurate. Virtually no light bleed in the corners. Awesome view angles (AH-IPS). Lots of configurable options in the menu. If you planning to do work then you will most likely be happy. One note, bottom border is drooping a little bit. Seems that plastic is not hard enough so its limping down a little bit but its not affecting overall awesomeness of the monitor. Got it for $599 + taxes from amazon.July update: I now have two of these and still very happy.
