Very good for the price but keep pressing tare
I've had this a couple of months and have weighed hundreds of powder charges. I cross checked each one with a RCBS 502 beam scale (for confidence),after first checking each scale with a Lyman certified test weight set. Both scales passed the weight check at several different points up to 50 grains. When dribbling powder into the pan, without any other action, it weighed consistently +1/10 grain higher than the 502. If I stop 1/10gr below my target, lift the pan off the weigh table and set it back down, it usually weighs correctly and also checks with the 502. Pressing the TARE button before weighing EACH NEW CHARGE, stopping 1/10 grain below target and lifting pan then setting it back down... produced the most consistent and accurate results. Frequently with powders such as IMR-4064, 4350, 4831 or 4895 I found ONE powder granule could make a difference, so I used a lee powder scoop to dribble powder. When checking the other way... (weigh on the 502 then check with the digital), it was usually right on IF my beam was centered on the mark, but showed +/- 1gr if I was off the line even the slightest, showing its sensitivity. The key to obtaining consistent accuracy is to press the tare key (even when turning on), wait 1-2 sec, dribble in your powder to 1/10gr under the target amount, lift pan, set back down and check. If still low, add 1 or 2 granules at a time. Some final observations- irritations but after some use you will get the hang of it.o- This scale is a little slow to register changes, it's easy to overshoot if you dribble too fast too often.o- The scale shuts itself off too soon if no activity is taking place. When busy doing other things, periodically hit the tare button to keep it running.o- The cover is not removable and soetimes gets in the way on a crowded desk.o- The readout is flat and can't be viewed at much more than 30* angle, so you have to have it fairly close to your position (6"-8") to look down on it - can't place it more than a foot or so away.Maybe 4 stars is one too many but OTOH it performs its function well and is accurate to the point of producing ammo with low standard deviations and single digit extreme spreads across my chrono. The next price point is 50-75 higher. For general use and within 1/10gr, I recommend it with the above caveats.

Easy to use and fairly accurate
This scale is easy enough to set up and use. It shows the weight quickly and is fairly accurate. It would not be acceptable if you are loading right at the max because it can be off by as much as .2 grs. It is sensitive to static electricity so keep other plastic objects away from it. I use it as a check against my other scale and to check how much my powder dispenser is throwing after I adjust it. It will not give you the exact weight but it is close enough to make sure I am close to what I want where you could then make the fine adjustments using a more accurate scale. I have used it a good bit and I am still on the first battery so the life of the battery is fine.I would imagine that you might get some weird readings as the battery is nearly drained but hopefully it is obvious. I rely on my beam scale so it really would be of no consequence. The only annoying thing is that it shuts off pretty quickly. For the price it is excellent. However, if you are looking for precise measuring this is not going to do it. Using scale check weights it sometimes gives the check weight but mostly it is off by .1 and sometimes .2. I have not experienced a time where it is off by more than that. If that is close enough for you well then it is perfect. I would not get rid of it because I like it as a reliable and quick way to check my powder dispenser and also to make sure I set up my beam scale properly where a little bit of inattention and it is possible to set it up a gr higher or lower. As careful as I try to be it is one more check that is reliable and quick. Oh even when you use the calibration weight it often will not weight that weight exactly as 100 grams.

Great digital scale for the money - but not exactly as shown
My four-star rating is based on value for the money more than anything else. One can spend well over $100 on a digital reloading scale, and for that price I am sure there are numerous features not found in the Hornady 1500 grain scale - but at $35 or less, those features should not be expected. The Hornady 1500 is packaged very nicely. The box is actually very suitable to be a permanent storage location for the scale, the measuring cup, and the calibration weight. Those are the three things that come in the box - along with a pair of AAA batteries already installed in the scale (with a protective plastic insulator that you remove to make contact). The scale is very easy to set up initially, and for each use. It is very accurate, as measured by the calibration weight that is included. It also performs nicely with quick-on, quick reading, and quick-off functionality. This is great when you are at the point where you just want to sanity-check every 20th charge or so....The only thing I don't care for much is the little measuring cup that comes with the scale. It should be noted that the one you see pictured here is NOT what you get. The cup that came with it is silver colored, not black as shown, but the real difference is function. The one in the product photo looks pretty decent, but the one you get has a very poor spout, and it is nearly impossible to pour the powder back into a cartridge without spilling some. For this, I withhold one star from my rating. However, I still recommend this scale as a great value and a dependable tool. I'll just use a different cup with mine.

Easy to use
Easy to use, easy to calibrate with included weight, comes in a box that can also be used for storage, and does all relevant units.

back to the good old beam
Unreliable and inconsistent ,I would never use it for critical powder loads. On investigation I find it's a common problem with electronic scales, back to the good old beam.
