Great Add to a North Star Splitter
These wings work well with certain types and sizes of wood. It makes splitting small to medium diameter, straight grain logs easier by splitting four ways. However, it doesn't work so well for larger logs (say, >12" dia.) that are twisted grain (hickory, sycamore). That's when you need to remove the wings and just use the single blade.
