Acme Citrus Attachment for Acme 5001 and 6001 Juicers

My Acme Juicerator 6001, which was passed down by my Mother, was sitting in the appliance garage too often. The Acme 6001 is a well built beast of a machine. They really don't make them like this anymore. But the Acme had been moved to second string for certain juicing duties mostly because it doesn't have a separate pulp container and the feeder area is small.Good time to have a citrus juicer. I looked at several options but kept coming back to the Acme 6001. This juicing attachment makes a lot of sense with a 6001 which is a powerful machine. This device does the best job I've seen of maximizing juice output. It only took 5 average size juice oranges to produce 16oz of awesome OJ. It is very easy to clean. It is not cheap but it is well built for plastic.As someone noted you should be careful. However the juicer only spins when you are pushing down on it. You control the pressure. If your hand slips, which it shouldn't but it can, the device stops spinning. FYI it works better on oranges cut along the equator than through the polar regions.Even with third string juice oranges, the juice delivered by the Acme is excellent. Maybe its because you get right to the pulp with it. I don't know. With this juicing device my Acme 6001 is back on the first string.

Title tells the story. The biggest drawback is the speed at which the juicing cone rotates. A bit of control, strength in fingers and extra attention are all required to operate this thing. Somewhere between and electric drill and a power saw. I'm surprised that acme hasn't had their engineers figure out a way to gear this thing down so the cone rotates more slowly.On the plus side, I now juice veggies and citrus with the same machine, and a quick change of heads. 2 words of adivice: PAY ATTENTION!!! Or else buy a mellower, free-standing machine, or better yet, a Hamilton Beach or Jupiter manual commercial juicer if you've got the counter space.

This attachment was ordered as a replacement for the original that was purchased years ago. The original lasted a very long time. The new one is made well from the best I can tell and is super sensitive to the mildest pressure I use to press oranges on it for juice. It does a great job! The only draw back is the really high price.

This item really makes citrus juicing a breeze. It probably triples the rate that I can juice lemons and limes. I no longer pre-squeeze fruits before cutting them, as this juicer seems to get all of the juice either way. My wrists don't get tired using this juicing method. It has a heavy duty, high quality feel, especially given that it is made of a plastic like material.The unit has a built in torque conversion, which increases the torque and reduces the spinning speed. This prevents the juicer from stopping spinning all together and makes it safer to use.Two things that could be improved. The instructions do not indicate that when connected properly, the juicer doesn't spin on its own, you must press a fruit against it to engage the spinning. Also, while this juicer works for large fruits like grapefruits, it is a bit small for them and requires quite a bit of manipulation to get all of the juice. It would be nice if it was a bit bigger or had a second attachment.

With very little provocation, this juicer attachment will crap out. Do not be surprisedAlso do not be surprised to learn that the advertised "Manufacturers 5 Year Limited Warranty" is a lie. This is only for the motor for the main machine, which is NOT a part of this purchase.Remember also that most all of these reviews are near the purchase date, not 2 1/2 years later when the unit dies despite infrequent light duty. Amazon has an extended warranty - buy it for this product.Sometimes you just get stuck with no alternatives to a proprietary add-on like this.

Works well and makes juicing a bag of citrus easy. I'm enjoying freshly squeezed citrus juice much more frequently now. You do have to stop periodically to clean the pulp out, but that is expected. I do wish there was a larger cone for larger citrus like comes with other juicers. Great addition to my juicer. I would buy this again.

Shipped timely. A little pricy

Best expansion to purchase to have your citrus properly juiced with and Acme juicer. The only issue was the vague instruction but it's only 2 pieces and simple to figure out on assembly. I gave the product a test run of juicing 6 Oranges and 4 Clementines. There was a minor bit of pulp but not as much as if you tried to use with out the attachment. Trust me you will have an citrus pure from previous rash experience.The attachment works via applying steady pressure with the cut side and letting the cone do all the work of extracting the juice from the citrus fruit. The attachment is made of high quality sturdy plastic material. The way the mechanical process is set up. You don't have to worry about making a minor mess of juice spilling out the bowl.
