A Merry Old Soul
This is not one of his usual Hits Album. It is Nat singing as only he can on recognizable songs with his unmistakable mellow voice. It is calming to listen to and done as only he can. He was without Peer as a Male Vocalist and no other singer had his sound.

Old Fashioned High Fidelity
Just received this record and played on my Audio Technica LPW40WN and sound perfect to my ears. This was re-recorded/remastered in EU. The original album was released by Capitol Records in USA. The record is in mono only not in stereo but the sound in HIFI more than made up for its shortcoming. Its a combination of analog and digital sound that you rarely hear nowadays. If you are an audiophile this record is a best buy, I recommend it, worth the money.

They don't make 'em like this anymore but....
...thank God for reissues. This has got to be the most romantic and beautiful sounding CD I own. I absolutely love it. Nat's voice, as always, is like sipping hot cocoa on a cold winter's day. I am in totally in love with "Stardust"...Nat sings it with such a dream-like quality, it'll bring tears to your eyes. He was no doubt a gifted musician, but he was also blessed with a wonderful voice, it was his destiny to sing to the masses... The sweeping strings of Gordon Jenkins' arrangement is so relaxing, all you'll want to do is sit back, close your eyes, and absorb every note. When I listen to to this CD it reminds me of how much I love Nat King Cole and his music, even though I was only a baby when he died. He is greatly missed by the world.Plus the three additional songs from 1963's WHERE DID EVERYONE GO? fit in quite well with the original tracks from LOVE IS THE THING, which was by the way, a #1 LP for Nat in 1957. If you are a NKC fan, this CD is a MUST. Buy it, you will love it, too! Through his music, NAT LIVES!

Love is theThing!
Nat King Cole died too early. He started playing jazz piano and then started to vocalize. He is the "master". Some of his early albums are being transferred to disks. I purchased this master piece on cassette. Still have a cassette player as this album is not available on a cd. He is the ultimate when it comes to romantic vocalizations. He is assisted with the orchestra of Gordon Jenkins. The songs include: When I Fall in Love, Stardust, love Letters, End of a Love Affair, At Last, it's All in the Game and my ultimate favorite, When Sunny Gets Blue. He is the "king" when it comes to romantic Ballads. Very recommended.

amazing reproduction
this is one SACD you must buy! the quality of Nat's voice just blows you away!Nat's voice takes center stage (primarily at center speaker) while the music is at aperfect level across the fronts and the surrounds!this audio recording alone justified my expenses on my Klipsch system!makes me happy to have bought a bigger center speaker.Selection of tracks is also nice, although it would have been betterif some of the tracks from my other Nat album (by Tivoli Audio) were present...tracks like Unforgettable, Mona Lisa, Smile are missing.I hope Capital Stereo would also make reproductions of the tracks on my"The King of Sound" album by Tivoli Audio. I don't even listen muchto my "The King of Sound" album even though I like many of the track selections on this albumafter I purchased "Love is the Thing" by Capital stereo! -- the sound isjust so mesmerizing!buy this! you won't regret it!

Phenomenal Vinyl Record!
This is a phenomenal recording! Very little pops and crackles. Nat King Cole was absolutely in a league of his own. I definitely would buy again. My setup is a Yamaha YP D8 turntable with an Otofon 2M Blue Cartridge. I have this plugged into my Sansui 1000A tube receiver/amplifier with Klipsch 15M bookcase speakers. This record works so well with my vintage equipment!

One of the best albums ever recorded.
This Japanese import contains the music from the original lp -- no more, no less -- in the original order. Most other cds are "Love is the Thing and more." Four extra songs (that's "the more") are parked amidst the original dozen. That changes a magnificent concept album into songs, some better, others not so much. The Gordon Jenkins arrangements are drop dead gorgeous. One of the best albums ever recorded.

DCC Gold wins over SACD in subjective terms...
This indeed is a wonderful porduction... But then again, I want to say soemthing to people who already have the DCC gold version... I can only campare the strereo layer.... This thing is wonerful.... It's so much more and more.... Nat King Cole is so much more and so much bigger in your room... but... the DCC gold version wins my heart still.. I know there are lots of Steve Hoffmnan's supporters praising him for what he did with the Analogue Poductions and I agree he did a beautful thing... but sorry, the DCC gold wins my heart... It's just so much more subtle and beautiful...For me, it's not about how much of the Nat King Cole you hear, it's about how sublime and artistic things can get.... On buying the SACD, I have no regrets whatsoever for the money I spent to buy the dated DCC gold version... It's just so much more beautiful even if worse in the objective sorts of terms... sorry...

The recording of his voice is something special
I prefer the mono tracks, the whole album is so so satisfying. Makes me just a bit sad that there isn't more 'things' in existence of this quality and commitment to excellence -- it would easily solve world peace and hunger in a matter of years.Sigh,
