Beautiful speakers at value
Top notch build quality. The cherrywood gloss finish absolutely fantastic, nothing like this in this price range. Beautiful reproduction of music, esp the high & mid range , as is standard for ML speakers. As good as more expensive musical speakers like ML 35xt or Focal chorus. Where it lacks is the bass range. Hence 4 star, otherwise love it. Will need sub to cover the low frequencies definitely.

Ear to ear grin!
On the subject of the Martin Logan LX16's. I really feel as if the sound has opened up quite a bit from the time they were taken out of the boxes. The bass is quite punchy and defined for the size of the driver. Obviously a sub is still required in my opinion. The mids and highs are quite stunning if you like the brighter/forward sound which I apparently do. I have these in a 5.1 system consisting of five LX16's, one Polk PSW 110, and a Harman Kardon AVR 3600. My room is fairly small 15 x 15 x 10. I like a nice balanced sound between all speakers. That's why I went with five of the same speakers, and this was the solution to the center speaker that I could come up with...putting it on it's side on my TV stand. Martin Logan's site says the tweeter is 80x80 degrees so I don't think it takes away too much. I set up the shipping box and put the speaker up right and tested that way. So before the nay sayers start chiming in I at least tried listening to the speaker the right way. I did attach the decoupling adhesives to the base of all speakers. This includes the center channel with a couple more on the front portion to aim it better at the listening angle. I know it's not ideal but works surprisingly well. I have the other speakers placed on 30" Sanus stands with decoupling adhesives, with the carpet spikes attached. I have two dogs, and am not really worried about them running around tipping them over. They definitely have a good sturdy feel to them. The fit & finish is absolutely stunning on these speakers! I feel like it puts them way ahead of the class/curve as long as aesthetics are concerned! One of the highlights of this system is listening to Ed Sheeran's I See Fire from the Hobbit soundtrack. The song starts out with a very smooth airy vocal track which I dig! Then an extremely detailed acoustic guitar...then that's when the magic starts when the low end comes in combined with everything else going on. If you do not get an ear to ear grin at this point in the song there is something wrong with you...lol All joking aside It is quite detailed and you can enjoy all the separate instruments at one time. I highly recommend listening to this song on a demo...the production is amazing and the sound quality is second to none! If there is a flaw you will not hear all the cool little details going on in the back ground. This song also presents very well in 2.1 mode. Earlier I had to physically walk up and check to make sure my center channel wasn't on that's how tight of an image this song plays on this system. My one complaint being that these speakers need quite a bit of volume to open up. At lower volumes they seem kinda dark to my likings, but I would have to imagine spending a ton more to make that happen. So all in all I am very pleased with my purchase. I would really suggest people to at least consider them if making a similar purchase.

Efficient stand mount speakers.
Solid 4.5 rattingThese are very detailed and musical speakers with superior tone, they do take awhile to break in, and are wonderful after about 50 hours or so.They look beautiful, and the grilles are perfect to protect the drivers, while letting the sound come though.Solid 5 star speakers for the money.I only took off 1/2 star, because I would like to see these front ported. The motion tweeter is INCREDIBLE!!!Bravo Martin Logan engineers, you did a wonderful job!92db with 1 watt...not too shabby for a stand mount! For you audiophiles out there, these do respond well to tube amps, if you can run on the 4 ohm taps, it best.Maybe..not a necessity though. because, as always....YMMVAwesome speakers...

Price and precision that can not be beat.
These are exceptional speakers, the quality can not be beat for the price. These are the exact same as the more expensive motion 15s. The only difference being the LX16 is flat topped while the Motion 15 are slanted. The best part about these speakers is there ability to hit the high area of music with such precision. I use mine in stereo mode currently, I feel they present the best when used with a subwoofer.

Returned due to poor packaging and damage
Speakers were returned as they arrived extremely damaged due to poor packaging (removed from original boxes and stuffed in a huge box left to bash into each other). I tested them out and found the folded motion tweeter rather dull sounding; not sure about all the rave reviews. They also sounded very boxy and chesty on male vocals, which may indicate panel resonances in the cabinet - although they sure feel solid.

I use them as a rear channel
The finish and build quality are excellent. They are limited at the low end as you would expect but fit well for how I'm using them. I would definitely recommend them.
