Some claim that it does not work with apple at all while some say it is wonderful accessory for your iphone
I was on the fence about getting this projector because of the mixed reviews. Some claim that it does not work with apple at all while some say it is wonderful accessory for your iphone.Asking around can only do so much. I had to get one to see it for myself. While waiting for the item to arrive, I’ve mastered their youtube channel’s how-to videos and was ready to use smart beam like a pro. This projector got delivered quiet fast (always a good thing). I also got the accessory set because I wanted the little bag and hdmi cable to use with iphone.I opened the box immediately and charged the projector. The charger is USB cable so you can connect it to the outlet or your laptop too. Think the unit I got was already charged to good 80% or so because the button changed to green rather quickly. After unplugging the charger, I turned it on and I saw the beautiful scarlett-hue screen. Like I’ve learned from the how-to video, I updated the projector software and got this to connect with my iphone 6s very smoothly. I also tried connecting it with hdmi cable and lighting adapter and it worked well too.I can now say with confidence that it DOES work with Apple devices.

Horrible Image quality and customer service; DO NOT BUY
I would have given 0 star if I could. My projector was defective from beginning and have not used for more than 5-6 times normally. Image would intermittently get very dull with completely changed spectrum of colors. Initially I would restart and reset for few times and some times it would get better but after initial few week it would not change with reset/ restart. Remained dumped in corner of my home after initial few weeks.Image quality: Even when worked image is far inferior for the price you pay. They claim 720P, no where near HD image even in the dark. Only may be workable for power point when you do not have other projector option, not for watching movies or any other content. My workplace people have other brand small projectors of same cost, works much better in terms of image quality even though they do not claim 720P.Contrast: if working normally (in my case only 5-6 times) only suitable for complete dark for visibility. I had expected better contrast as they claim 100 lumen contrast which is better than some of then similar size projectorsPrice: I bought this projector because of form factor and HD image they claimed. But considering actual image quality and contrast I think its way overpriced. In my experience ( many of my friends have other brand small projectors) , other projectors of similar price and small size gives much better quality including miroir, LG and vivitek. Go for known brands, available at bestbuy. DONOT waste your money on this unknown brand with horrible customer service who cant even give you price estimate for repair and says thay they will have to send projector to Korea for repair and also cant give any repair estimate that will also come from KOREA. When I told him that when YOU (KDCUSA) are distributing this product for many years, why you dont have repair estimate even after I explained my problem in detail, am I the first customer to have repair, they had no proper answer. SO IRRITATING. I THINK I COMPLETELY WASTED MY 330 DOLLARS. I WOULD NEVER BUY THESE UNKNOWN BRANDS WHO CLAIMS SO GOOD THINGS ON PAPER BUT WHEN YOU BUY THE PRPDUCT YOU GET SO DISAPPOINTED AND ON TOP OF THAT, YOU GET SOMEBODY WITH SO HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Not iPhone/iPad friendly
I want to start off by saying I really wanted to like this projector, unfortunately, it has too many shortcomings and is being returned. This projector was going to be used primarily during camping trips. The fact that it could be charged via USB and a battery bank, made it a must have. Other projectors offer internal batteries that require an outlet and power supply to charge. With that said, here is my quick review.Design: Overall, the design is stylish and compact.Battery Life: This projector does have an internal battery that can be charge via USB. This a plus as you can get a fairly cheap battery bank/s and be able to use the projector for long periods of time.Picture: The picture is okay but can not compare with other projection technology. This projector does not have a focus or keystone controls. Specs show it has infinite focus, but the picture is still a bit out of focus at 9ft. With that said, smaller text is unreadable at the same distance (see pictures)Brightness: Being a laser projector, the visible lumens is closer to 80... this is my perceived brightness based on other projectors I've tested. Not great but should work in a dark room or outdoors with low light pollution.Function: Here is where the projector does not work for me. First, since there is no keystone or tripod mount, extra effort is needed on the placement. This alone is not a deal breaker and somewhat expected it. The main issue is when utilizing the AirPlay function on the projector with my iPhone and iPad. First, AirPlay does not have HDCP on the projector side. Meaning, you can't mirror a movie or tv show that was purchased through iTunes. This problem extends to other apps/streaming services such as DirecTV, HBO GO, and etc. Only option to watch these shows/movies, is to hardwire using a HDMI cable. Here you will need the Apple HDMI adaptor, HDMI cable, and HDMI to mini HDMI converter (or get a cable that has them built in). Unfortunately, when you do this, your audio options are limited since the projector does not have an AUX out. The Apple devices will not let you use the headphone jack when using the HDMI cable. The only option here then would be to use a Bluetooth external speaker and connect it to the iDevice. Unfortunately, this will cause sound delay issues between the image of the projector and the sound.Overall, I recommend if you are planning on using this with an iPhone or iPad get an Aaxa projector instead. This projector may work better with an Android device base on other reviews. Just keep in mind of the other drawbacks before making your decision.UPDATE: KDCUSA (seller) has responded to my review with additional information pertaining to my review. I encourage you to review as they advise of some clarifications (keystone and tripod). Additionally, I responded to their reply... take a look.UPDATE: adding more pictures as for some reason my other ones are no longer showing (removed one from my iPad showing the HDCP error). New photos are not zoomed in. I was standing close to the screen (in a light controlled room).Update: After receiving a couple disrespectful responses from KDCUSA (seller), I decided to take more pictures to back up my observations. I added picture of UO Laser Projector running along side an older Brookstone 100 Lumen projector. Both are connected to iPads using HDMI cables (with corresponding adapters). Picture is of the Marvel movie intro. UO is on the left, Brookstone on the right. Both are rated 100 lumens but the Brookstone is considerably brighter. UO does state that lasers lumen is perceived differently by the human eye. Well my eye captures the same brightness as the photo (UO is less bright). From a picture quality perspective, I'll do some video comparisons next week but again, based on what I observed, UO falls short against this competitor. I will say, it is likely I may have a defective, unfortunately the seller spent his day trying to disprove my opinions (key word!) rather than work with me constructively. I understand the pride a company/manufacture should have in their products, but customer service etiquette should not suffer. There are more tactful ways of presenting product benefits/features while actually listening to a customer and their experience.

Really great little projector
Really great little projector. I'd have to say it's one of my favorite gadgets (and I am kind of a gadget guy). The picture is very good. I use this to watch movies all the time, connected to my iPhone 6. Even using an 80" screen, the picture is good, and bright - of course I am in a darkened room. Normally I'd say I watch it using a 40"-50" projection size. It's really pretty amazing.I'm kind of waiting for an updated model, since I bought mine a while back. When it comes out, I know I'll be tempted to buy it.
