BISSELL SpotClean Portable Carpet Cleaner, 5207A

I've had this for about two years now. Got it so I could steam clean my sectional couch that had about 6 years of doggy funk all over it. Although this steamer cleaner is small, it did the big job!! Yes, I had to fill the tank up several times to complete the job but the water that was sucked up was filthy and my couch came out looking new and smelling great. I used the Bissell Oxygen Boost plus the shampoo that came with the product. It worked great. I did read the reviews about the machine before buying it and it had mentioned leaking and losing the suction. I did experience that when I was cleaning my couch. But also realized it was also telling me to dump out the dirty water. I also figured out that you have to make sure the containers are firmly set in the machine or it won't do the job. It's a little adjustment if the suction is not working but has been easily corrected when it has happened. I use the machine often now. I moved to a home with wall to wall carpeting and have used it on dog accidents in the house. It's been convenient to use and cleans up very well. Very well!!! I am still happy with it almost two years later and even if it does breakdown on me in the next few years, it would be because I used it to death!! But I would still buy another to replace it.

I bought this because I wanted something with an attachment I could clean my upholstery with (as well as spills on the carpet obviously.) and I would have preferred to get a full size shampooer with the extra attachment, but they are too expensive, so I settled for this. Its easy enough to figure out and use, and gets the job done adequately.What I dont understand is why the dirty water tank is "full" after only sucking up a couple inches of water. Its kind of misleading if you look at the picture and see two equal sized tanks, when the dirty tank in fact never even comes close to filling up. The suction automatically shuts off and forces you to go empty it before you can continue cleaning. Even when I am using this machine for its intended use of simple spot cleaning, I have to empty it more than once to finish the job.I accidentally stepped on the brush part and cracked the plastic apart in such a way that this carpet cleaner is unusable now. I still have yet to look into replacement parts for it, hopefully I can find one. I wish it hadn't snapped so easily.I dont like the deep reach tool very much, because the water shoots out every which way, so any moment that you dont have it pressed down hard into your carpet, some water is going to shoot out and get you and your surroundings wet.All in all, if this is the best you can afford, then I guess like me you'll have to take what you can get. After all, carpet shampooers are just too pricey, in my opinion. But if you can afford a full sized carpet shampooer that has an upholstery attachment or a hand tool any kind, then get that instead.

This is a neat little machine. I have used it even more than I expected. We have a large carpet shampoo unit that we store in the garage and it's a big PAIN to drag out and use for small spills or pet stains. I used this with an extension cord to clean my car carpets and literally felt like it brought them back to an almost new condition. For the cost of this unit, you could spend that much on a car detailing...at least that's how I justified the purchase and I have also used it for pet stains. It's terrific for a quick spot clean and exceptionally easy to use. But to balance out my review, here are a couple of small observations: the hose is so stiff and not flexible enough, the plastic cord keeper on the machine is lightweight plastic and requires some caution when rewinding or unwinding the cord and the machine is loud when running. As far as cleaning performance goes: it comes with an initial (small) bottle of cleaning solution and booster which work terrific. My stains were gone and carpet looked perfect after using; even when I found a dried cat barf that was several months old - the shampooer worked it out quickly and permanently. Ok - regarding the machine spewing water (?) - it will not work right after the water level get's too high in the waste tank. It also won't work right when the cleaning solution tank gets too low....minor issues if you pay attention to what's going on. Very happy with my purchase.
