Great for My Independent Toddler
I had an independent child who did not like her hand being held while walking in crowds. She would wriggle her hands free from my grasp and try to run off and try to make a game out of it. This harness gave my 18 month - 2 year old daughter the freedom to explore and walk on her own in crowds and it gave me the added security of knowing that she was not going to wander off. She loved her monkey and felt like a big girl with her monkey "backpack". Yes, I got some looks and unwanted comments, but I figure that I would rather have her safe than be the parent everyone roasted on the comment section of a news story something along the lines of "where was the parent?"

my daughter loves walking her monkey!
Purchased this for a trip to the beach. My daughter loved it, wore it while we walked to the beach, zoo, around an outdoor mall, on the boardwalk. She would even just want to wear it around the house and walk her monkey around (we would remove the "leash" part). Not much of a backpack, but adorable for kids. I felt she was very safe wearing it, she's 1.5. I actually started using it more than the stroller because as a bonus, walking tired out my kid and made for an earlier bedtime ;)

My daughter LOVES IT!
I know a lot of people who think the child harnesses are inhumane and cruel, but in all honesty, I love this thing! My daughter is very independent and loves walking by herself. A lot of the time she refuses to even hold mine or my husband's hand. When we go to busy places (zoo, aquarium, mall, etc.) this item is perfect so she can walk "independently" but while still attached to us somehow. The "backpack" part is kind of a joke. It's a tiny little pouch on the back of the monkey that really doesn't hold much. But it's a perfect place to put her "in case of emergency" card and immunization booklet, just in case!

LOVE!!
LOVE!!! This is such a fantastic concept. My 21 month old loves putting on her monkey and going for a walk in our backyard (3.5 acres) with her grandparents. It really serves a dual purpose for us- our property slopes gently, but just enough that a toddler who pulls her hand free from yours and gains momentum could easily fall and get hurt, AND it allows the grandparents to enjoy a walk with a curious toddler who moves way faster than they do :)I know some folks are so offended by the thought of a child on a 'leash', but I could really care less what they think. This gives my little one enough independence to be able to run around and look at things in highly populated areas. I am not sure about other folks 21 month olds, but mine is extremely active and will hold onto my hand for awhile, but than will always want to pull free!! This worked great in the airport :)

1 star off because it is more like a stuffed toy than anything else
My 18 month old nieces loves her little monkey! 1 star off because it is more like a stuffed toy than anything else, this is by no means a backpack. It is what the description calls its: a harness. The pocket is very small...just enough room for her cell phone - that really all that fits. Also I think the "monkey tail" strap at the bottom is a little awkward. But the function overall is great, it does what it needs to. The most important part is that my little niece likes it so much and will let us put it on her. Excellent value for the price.

great for the wee ones
i used to be a nervous wreck about going out into public with my toddler because she's so strong willed and has such poor judgment about the damage of oncoming traffic. but this adorable little tool has changed all of it. my daughter loves wearing this little monkey and i love being able to hold on to my daughter without her being able to slip through my fingers.

love this!
I have a two year old who was always trying to run off in stores and public places. She also didn't want to sit in her stroller or buggies because she wanted down to explore. Now I can let her do that without her being able to get too far away from me. I love this item it has been a lifesaver and the best part is my daughter loves wearing it and even insists on wearing it now. I never leave home without it.

Bought for one of our granddaughters about 17 months old ...
Bought for one of our granddaughters about 17 months old. She will not always hold our hand while walking. This allows her to walk by herself and still have us in control. If she sees harness, she asks to have it put on and will even ask for the tether. Allows her to remain safe and secure while in crowds, stores and near traffic.
