Better than Rockwool
I've been growing indoor hydroponic lettuces for a couple of years, using the Aerogarden grow baskets. I went through a period of trying to save money by substituting the peat grow plugs with less expensive but poorly fitting 1" rockwool cubes. I've come to the conclusion that these peat plugs are worth the additional cost. Better germination, less green mold, easier installation and no irritation to fingers and lungs as in working with the rockwool. This company offers a reasonable price and fast shipping. I'll continue using these in the small Aerogarden baskets. Rockwool cubes work pretty well in my 1.5" baskets but peat-based products have always worked better for me. They break down much better in your compost pile too.

Easy to work with product and company!
The pods arrived lose in the box because the bag was ripped. This resulted in some pods losing some fill but the company was great at responding and apologized for the inconvenience.

Similar to the original Aerogarden sponges
Similar to the original Aerogarden sponges. Some of them are a little difficult to get seeds in, but so far they all work as expected. Nothing special and nothing bad. Not sure why all the other reviews are giving them a hard time.

Works the same way for less $
These do the same exact thing for a much, much better price. I like starting herbs in the aerogarden and transferring to soil when they get too big, so I wanted something cheaper. I read some reviews saying they have some stuff in them, maybe a mold or bacteria or something. I just boil them for a few minutes and microwave them for 2 minutes. You could probably do just one of these steps and kill everything in them. I haven't had anything gross come from them. I'd recommend for aerogarden users.

If you want to grow green algae these are for you. If you want to grow Plants STAY AWAY from these.
As the heading states If you want to grow green algae these are for you. Seriously these are the worst grow plugs I've ever used. I've used Aerogardens for years starting with the original models and now own 4 of the LED modern versions so I know what I'm doing when it comes to growing plants in them.I've used 3rd party grow plugs before without problems but these like other customers have reported continue to grow green algae which is not always easy to spot under the plant labels until it's too late and you realize the seeds are not germinating or those that do get choked off and killed by the algae robbing the plant of nutrients it needs to flourish. Not only can you not grow successfully using these you end up with a nightmare job of trying to clean the algae from the plastic pod holders.Stay well away from these grow pods, spend a little more and stick with the original Aerogarden grow pods.Waste of time and money for these.

Have the holes.
The best part about these sponges is that they have visible holes. I've bought others that didn't. Use tweezers to insert the seeds. Seeds have started in them ok.New review. I now think the big holes in these are a negative. After using more of these it seems like I'm getting only 50% germination. I wonder if it's because the seeds fall so far to the bottom they just rot. I'm also getting a lot of white mold? with these that i haven't experienced before. I have read it isn't an issue, though.I will be looking for the other pods. Yes, aerogarden pods are great but pricey. There are others available that are cheaper and just as good.Btw, I have three other hydroponic systems, two are DIY besides an aerogarden. No different experiences with any type.

Works with aerogarden perfectly!
Works great for aerogarden or any other similar hydroponics system. I use these to start seeds in my aerogarden, but then I move the sponges to a raft on my aquaponics system once sprouted. These are great and saves a lot of money!

Finally something for my seeds
I collect seeds and like to replant. This is perfect so I can plant what seed I want, get them to a certain size and then transplant to a container or in garden. Wonderful and would recommend for anyone who wants to plant their own seeds and not buy pods.
