I like this computer
I like this computer. I have had it since April and it is still running smoothly so far. It looks and feels good to the user. If you are worried about if it is good enough for games, it is for average gaming. I currently run Minecraft, The Sims 4, Saints Row 4, and the MMO Tera on it and I don't experience too much lagging. Just kind of watch the setting that your graphics (in game) are set to. Also I am a college student and I think it is a great school computer. It comes with one note and its not so heavy that it hurts your back or tires you out going to class (My campus is very large and I don't have a car). The update to windows 10 was smooth as well.

A Surprising Little Machine
Very pleased with the ASUS so far. Although I replaced a CORE i7 with it (CORE i5), it seems to play DVD and Netflix movies flawlessly. Web pages load almost instantly and the touch screen is very usable. I can get through two full-length movies on one full charge of the battery. It's really a surprising little machine. It even has facial recognition you can use in place of a sign-in password. The only downside I can find is that the shell feels a little "inexpensive" (read "cheap") in that the fit is a little off. Otherwise it's been a very good purchase for the price.

Very disappointed
I bought this machine in Dec'13 and only started using it in January this year.I heard a lot about asus and i decided to switch from dell. I am very disappointed with machine as it is slow,it also freezes up ever so often. This causes a lot of inconvenience for me in my work. The only reason i did not send this machine back is because i live in Trinidad.I will not be purchasing an Asus again also i will not be recommending it to any of my friends as it reminds me of some Compaq machines i used a number of years ago.

Not Impressed
I've run into several of the same issues described in other reviews here. The wireless connection drops often, it freezes up and goes to sleep on its own while I'm working on it, and sometimes it does not recognize that a USB drive is plugged into it. I've also found that the wireless problem is exponentially worse when the laptop is not plugged in. Weird I know, but as a result I now keep it plugged in nearly all the time.I would have returned it if I'd bought it direct from Amazon but I purchased from an Amazon subvendor on the East Coast due to high Xmas demand and it's proven to be a hassle that I'd rather not deal with. Should have been patient and just waited till Amazon had it in stock... lesson learned.

SEEMED GREAT, AT FIRST
Nice appearance and seems durable. Touch screen is responsive and sensitivity is good. Everything seemed okay except for ability to maintain an internet connection. On both private and public systems, connection would inexplicably drop and then reconnect. Updated drivers and had friend who is a PC Tech make numerous changes. This improved but did not resolve the problem. Also, the max volume is rather low. It is okay for general use but if you plan to stream videos you may find it inadequate. I have been told that there is an issue with Windows 8 and drivers but seems Asus should address this before selling these. After purchase, I found a number of other Asus owners who indicated the same issue. Returned it. Very pleased with Amazon on the return. Painless.

Solid build
I was looking an affordable durable laptop that I could play movies through the HDMI for camping. So far this laptop has performed very well. It feels surprisingly solid for a $500 laptop. Asus has put together a laptop that doesn't feel flimsy, but durable. If this was going to be something I'd travel with daily, it might run a little on the heavy side, but I just plan on using it as a video server in our camper.

Reliable, fast, and sleek
I tried 2 14 inch Asus laptops before settling with this one. I liked them but they both had issues with functions. This one has had no problems, seems much better in terms of reliability and speed. It doesn't get hot, is fairly quick on start up, and the touch screen is perfect. It does have the DVD drive, which I didn't necessarily need, but it does come in handy. For one hundred dollars more, this laptop has a look and feel of a much more expensive computer. The keyboard is Apple style. The only thing I miss is a back lit keyboard. Other than that, I would say this is just about perfect.

I love this computer. It's super fast and very thin with a sleek and good looking appearance. I highly recommend it.
