Finally failed after a flawless three years. You CAN replace the batteries, but is it worth it?
They're easy to install, the lights do have some different modes such as flashing, but to me these are just a waste of time. I do not want irritating flashing lights driving me insane as I relax sitting on the deck overlooking my pond in the evening. I set them to just stay on steady and left it at that. After installing and letting the solar panel soak up sun all day, they came on at dusk as expected. (I see a lot of complaints that they won’t come on during the day unless you cover the solar panel. I don’t understand the complaints because I’ve yet to purchase a solar light that didn’t automatically come on until dusk. None of them work in the daylight unless you cover up the sensor. Even my solar security lights that come on when they sense movement only come on at night.) Anyway, maybe it’s because of the Texas sun, but what wasn't expected was that these lights stay on all night long. Be aware that you won’t be doing any reading by these lights. They are bright enough to provide light for enjoying the outdoors without sitting in the dark and I have little problem fishing off my deck by their light, but they are not bright enough to attract any bugs which is perfect. There is no remote and I was perfectly fine with not having another tiny remote to lose. Just the two buttons on the back. On/Off and Mode. Set it and forget it. I like the vintage hominess of the bulbs and the amount of light emitted is perfect. One string was enough for my purposes, but if I needed more then I would certainly get another set of these. They did finally stop working after three years of non stop problem free use. When they stopped working I played with them a bit trying to get them working again with no success. I assumed the rechargeable batteries had finally worn out as even manually charging over night using the USB port didn’t help. So the batteries finally died. That’s to be expected, but three years of flawless operation out of this set of solar lights for $30? I’d say money well spent and I replaced them with the exact same set.For the curious you CAN replace the batteries if you are careful. I realized this after ordering a new set. To do so, you carefully pry off the frame from the back with a couple of little flat head screwdrivers. Then you must remove eight tiny Phillips head screws, (probably rusty by now if they are like mine), to remove the solar panel. The two batteries are then exposed and just pop right out. Unfortunately, the good news ends there as these are 18650 2200mAb 3.7 volt batteries not to be found at your local convenience store. You’ll need two and you can order them from Amazon of course, but you’ll pay about $20 for them. If you go this way you can purchase more powerful 18650’s, but what’s the point when you can get an entirely brand new set of lights for $10 more?Based on my experience with my first set of lights, I highly recommend these. Fingers crossed that my next set has a similar lifespan.

FOUR YEARS GOING STRONG!
I really don’t have anything but great things to say about these lights. I bought and installed two strings of these lights on our covered backyard patio by myself when I was 5-ish months pregnant in 2020. They were definitely not super difficult to install. I just recommend measuring your space ahead of time so you know how you’re going to hang them. I installed them on my patio and hung the solar panels on the sides of my patio, angled toward the sun. I broke a bulb on one of my metal patio chairs while I was hanging them and had no problem finding a replacement bulb. With all that being said, our lights have shone bright on our patio EVERY night for the past 4 years. They’re definitely worth it! I will buy again when these eventually give out.

READ IF YOURE HAVING TROUBLE! Light sensors.
I feel compelled to leave a review for this item because of my mixed, but overall good, feelings about this product. First off, in terms of quality of materials, I would give these string lights solid marks. I have some plug-in brighttech lights that have been outside for years and they are AMAZING, but their solar counterparts didn't get great ratings for material quality, so I thought I would try these. in comparison to my other outdoor lights, the cord is much thinner and more fragile, but still looks pretty good, and I like that these have glass bulbs included. For ease of FIRST use, I would rate these an "F." The instructions are mediocre, at best, and the green indicator light for charging is basically non- existent unless you're in a closet. The mode and power buttons are also kind of squirrely, I had to press the mode button before the power button. I attempted charging these for the first time over the course of several days outside using the solar panel, but due to an undisclosed tidbit (will reveal in a second) about these lights, I was not able to effectively test to see if they worked; when powered on after several days chsrging in bright full sun, the lights would turn on for about five seconds and then shut off, which led me to believe solar charging did not work,, much to my dismay.Since my return window had closed, I decided to bring them inside and attempt charging via USB. I plugged them in and charged for about 12 hours, and then attempted to use the lights again . Again, the lights would turn on for about five seconds and then shut off. I was so disappointed. However, I remembered reading a review that mentioned the lights only stay on when the solar panel is face down, so I tried that and the lights stayed on... for over 24 hours, so far, on one charge! This seemed a little odd to me to be a defect, so I took the lights into a dark room... Now, here is where the undisclosed information comes in. When I purchased these lights, it did not say in the product description or in the paperwork that came with the lights that the solar panel also HAS LIGHT SENSORS. So, this means that even if your battery is fully charged, these lights will not turn on if it is light wherever they are located, unless you flip the panel upside down. If it is dark, they will operate with panel face up. Knowing this information, I am now running the battery out until dead by keeping the panel face down to both test how long they last and to double check that solar panel does, indeed, work to charge the battery. I am expecting good results and will update if it does not charge. After much trial and error I feel comfortable giving this product five stars, despite the trouble it caused me!

Not shatterproof
Nice lights, relatively easy to hang, but definitely NOT shatterproof. Dropped one on the pool deck and it shattered in several pieces. Looked and sounded like broken glass. We'll see how it holds up. I didn't think to ask if it would still work with a bulb missing. I'll find out tonight after it has charged all day.
