Harsh environment use
I don't know about the elite but I have own 2 of the original ones in the last few years. I primarily use it as an exhaust fan for my stove out a port window because it's omni directional. So considering it is being use not for its intended use it puts up with smoke, greasy air and steam from a stove and still holds up. Probably last for ever if I used it the right way to blow air.
