Vax S84-W7-P Steam Fresh Power Plus Multifunction Steam Mop & Genuine Pro Cleaning Pads

I have had this product for a few weeks now and felt it needed a review as I had a few issues with this product. The floor head was partially blocked and had to be replaced, the process replacing the floorhead was quick and simple just a pain as the steam cleaner was new. The replacement arrived next day but the steam cleaner still didn't work effectively so I contacted Vax again and they asked me to go through a few procedures which had no effect. Basically the flow of steam was poor and the water tank only operated when the tank was partially full which meant constantly filling the tank to where it would work. I disassembled the tank and found the silicone non return valves were blocked and metal swarf in the metal balls on the end of the silicone tube. Having cleared the manufacturing crap from those items I assembled it all back together again and now it works a treat. I like the two tanks one for the diluted cleaner and one for plain water. The various heat settings which now work properly are a good design feature and add a variable functionality to the steamer cleaner for different types of applications. Just a shoddy piece of quality control from Vax a shame as it knocked the cherry off the top of the cake, otherwise it's a good product.

The Vax steam mop is about 98 per cent plastic and in our experience not really built well enough to stand up to normal, weekly use. The joint that seals the steam inside the main down-pipe when it's used as a full height mop just cracked while in use.We have all tiled floors, upstairs and down, and playing fair the steam mop has shaved an hour or more off the old days of mop, bucket and hot water. Apart from anything, the hot water residue dries very quickly.The mop is in two parts. The full-length floor-mop down-pipe can be detached from the water reservoir, heating unit and handle. The connector at the top of the down-pipe is designed to clip on and off the water-heater section. The part of the connector at the top of the pipe itself is just a neck glued over a plastic tube, and not designed to separate or move.There's a little hatch in this neck that in hindsight creates an obvious weak point. The neck cracked there after a couple of weeks of normal push-pull actions.Vax - eventually - agreed to replace the whole pipe, but the mop's not something we'd recommend.

Really disappointed with this product. I purchased last year and initially very pleased with it, but bits of plastic keep falling off it and it just is not very robust. I have been through two lots of handheld brushes, which simply melt after one or two uses. This week the bits of plastic that attach the wand to the main body have broken. Disappointed and will not be buying from VAX again.

Just returning the second one after two weeks use...they are dreadful..the first one we had only three days..the pipe with the detergent in would not work...so back it went..along came replacement...switched it on today....nothing completely dead...we checked the fuse ..fine..but the steamer felt hot..so a serious problem some where..we only bought it because it was reccommended by Which magazine..wont be taking any notice of them again..would i say buy one...absolutely not..it does not deserve the one star its been given

This has to be the worst product I've ever purchased. After one time steaming a small kitchen floor it never worked again! - It ended up going back in the cupboard where it never came out again. I've spoken directly to VAX about their VAX Steam Cleaner and have been told that because I've left it to raise an issue, and the 1 year warranty is now over, I would be forced to purchase a new one from them. I'm afraid VAX! that I would never be purchasing another VAX product, especially if they all break after 1 use. This is awful and wasteful considering it's going to be thrown away. It's shameful that they also don't want it returned to investigate the issue to make sure that further products are not as faulty as this one and do their small bit for the environment.I would recommend you don't buy any VAX cleaning product if they are only guaranteed for 12 months! and that between that time they break.I've added photos so you can see how new the product is and how little use it's had. I've also spent time speaking to VAX customer services who have done all the checks they can and tell me they have no idea why it isn't working and all the lights are on and the motor is running! - just doesn't sound that great that they know their products or possible solutions to turn round and just say 'buy another one and throw that one away'AFTER 1 USE!!!!

I really like my steam mop, I only use it for my tiled kitchen and bathroom floors, not refreshing carpet however.So.. Pros and Cons: the tank doesn’t last forever but refilling is easy, seems to get up the dirt but you need 2 to 3 mop heads for the kitchen and then 1 for the bathrooms so buy extra mop pads. Leave floor almost dry.Easy to use, not too heavy, but vobstantly refilling the detergent. Main issue that that structurally there is a weakness where the handle joins the steam unit. If you take the mop pad off to use the brush and steam to give your floor a scrub on the stubborn dirt the plastic snaps. This happened very soon after purchasing. So far I’ve just gaffer taped it together and it still works, but disappointed given the cost. See photo
