Q: How long is the seating area? I know the total length is 101 but what about the measurements without the armrests.

The actual seating area measured from inside the armrest is 78 inches.

Q: can anyone comment on the color of the chestnut? I've seen reviews where the couch looks more caramel than the product pictures.

There are only two pictures of the chestnut in the reviews image gallery. The other couches that you're seeing that look caramel were from when they were offering an additional leather color option (I know because they also use to offer leather swatch samples, and I ordered one). Now they're only offering the grey fabric and the chestnut leather--and the chestnut goes off and on in terms of availability.
