It's decent for the price tag.
This is a decent combo for the package.First, the XM-55. For the price tag, this mic has about the quality I would expect. It's very touchy about volume, and it only sounds it's best when it's at the ideal volume. I'm still working on dialing in what that "perfect" volume is. The build quality is pretty cheap, but I can understand that for the price tag. Now, let's talk about the accessories. I really wish this mic was sold for a little cheaper with no accessories, because they are basically trash. The mic cables it came with were so poor that I set them aside and ordered a nice Sennheiser cable. The wind screen doesn't do much, and the shock mount is crappy quality. I'm at least glad that they include additional rubber bands for the shock mount, cause I broke one of the rubber bands on only my second use. I guess it is an ok accessory, just low quality. Really the only 2 accessories worth using are the shock mount and the hard case (and the windscreen if it's very windy - it will help a little).Next, the XM-L. This mic isn't anything impressive, but I don't expect it to be. It's a "bonus," and for it's $20 value, I think it's pretty decent. The bonus microfiber is also nice. The first combo I got, the XM-55 was defective, but Amazon resolved it in a fast and professional matter. UPS was at my house the next day to pick it up for free! And the next one I ordered came perfect.Overall, this is a good portable/secondary mic. I bought it for when I'm not at my home and can't use my studio mic.If this is all you can afford, then it will improve your audio from the default camera audio. However, I would only recommend using it as a portable or secondary option for travel or as a backup. I would not recommend it as a primary mic. For my primary mic, I use (and love) the Audio Technica AT3035.

This is a pretty good purchase and value
This is a pretty good purchase and value. I was surprised how well the mic works with older and new camcorders as well as smartphones by a flip of the switch. I even was able to get the mic to work with my iPad and iPad mini which was my main purpose. Even works in a laptop computer with full stereo sound from both speakers. For such a low cost, it was better made than I ever expected from another Made in China product.

For beginners, it’s a good mix.
I like the fact that it comes with a lot of accessories. The sound is manageable especially for beginners.

Nothing worked and it’s only 13 pieces
Nothing worked properly with the audio equipment. Additionally, a lapel mic was to be included but it wasn’t. I even called Amazon for assistance but they were not helpful at all. I tried returning it and ended upbgetting the same wrong thing. . I am disappointed in the purchase.

Cheaply made but effective
While it is a fairly effective mic, it's cheaply made and we had a lot of trouble with loose connections.

Fine for the price
This kit is huge, it's ok for the price. Mic is not the best quality but it gets the job done. I used a Rode a couple of times on a gig as a book and it was much better than this but also much more expensive. This is a good starter kit. The lav included did a fine job on a recent gig. Very happy.

Noisy mic, but fixable in post.
UPDATE: I have since learned out to properly reduce the noise of this mic in my editor in post. It has drastically changed my opinion of it. So, if you have a good editing program like Final Cut Pro X or Premiere Pro then you can really reduce the hiss of this mic and let the good quality shine through. This mic sucks. The white noise is untamable. I’d purchased two preamps before finally realizing it was the mic— not my dslr, not my external recorder, and not my preamp. The mic was the source! I borrowed a friend’s $20 shotgun mic to compare and their mic had barely noticeable noise. I plugged the vidpro back in and it sounds like someone is running a vacuum in the other room. Don’t buy.
