What kind of bike should i buy for this

I have mine on my beach cruiser and it is perfect! Had it professionally installed at the bike shop, too.

The non disc specs indicate a max weight of 48.5. the spread sheet for baby seat ii rack indicates 55. what's the difference?

MArk, the weight limit for the child and 48.5. The rack weight limit is total weight rack on its own can handle, 55lbs. Essentially the seat weighs 6.5 lbs. Hope that helps

What height is the hole in the seat? It should accommodate helmet but since it's not adjustable, it won't help every child.

That hole is for carrying. The whole seat is designed to accommodate helmets for all riders that will fit. (E.g. the supports contour to accommodate helmets. If the passenger wasn't wearing a helmet they would be most uncomfortable)
