I have used this on a Marmot rain shell and had excellent results as well
I inherited an older coat with GoreTex that was absolutely not repelling water, but rather had it soak in when tested with droplets from a spray bottle. All breathable, water repellent type coatings will need to be refreshed from time to time, this isn't limited to GoreTex. I washed the coat in Grangers Performance Wash in a commercial front loading washer, then sprayed it with Granger's Xtrreme Repel Waterproofing Spray and used a commercial clothes dryer (neither at home) set at medium heat. I dried it for 30 minutes, however this spray requires heat to set it, so it may be that I should have left the coat in longer, but wanted to spare it from being beaten further by the machines, so I finished with air drying it -the insulation can hold a lot of water. After drying in the sun, the repellency was spotty, so I ended up test spraying it with water, noting where it needed treatment, spraying it with more Grangers and carefully drying it with a hair dryer. This took longer, but had the advantage of not soaking the jacket with a full wash. This coat had probably never been re-treated, so it must be looked upon as an extreme example. It took about 2/3 of the container, but it now is fully water repellent again. I have used this on a Marmot rain shell and had excellent results as well. I have noted no spots and no odor with this product. GoreTex, BTW, suggests that for a new coat that needs refreshing, it might be possible to wash and iron it to restore water repellency. If you choose to investigate this route, please look this up and follow directions so that you don't accidentally harm your expensive material with the iron.

it was amazing to see
FYI I used the Granger Xtreme Repel (not the Performance Repel).I was hesitant to buy this after using the Nikwax stuff that didn't work at all (even though they're completely different products), but gave it a shot and was shocked at how well it worked. I used this stuff on a Volcom Gore-Tex jacket I've used all season for snowboarding; it was losing it's "waterproofness" so I had to restore it.Here's what I did to my jacket that made this product work so well:I had already washed my jacket before doing the steps below:1. Once I received the Granger waterproof spray, I put the jacket in the washing machine - my machine has a "Rinse and Spin" only option and that's what I used. This is important because the jacket or garments needs to be damp before using this spray.2. I let the machine spin only again without rinsing to ring out as much water as possible.3. I took jacket out of washing machine, hung on a hanger while damp, and sprayed this stuff all over.4. Remove hanger and place in dryer on normal dry. That's it. As soon as it came out of the dryer I tested it under the kitchen faucet and the water beaded off with absolutely no absorption.. it was amazing to see! My previous wash and water test without this stuff had water absorbing into the fabric of the jacket. This stuff works!!!!

Great product, terrible instructions
It took me a while to get the hang of it but it does work. The first time I applied the coating, it did not work when I was walking in the rain. The second time, probably with 1/4 of the bottle left, this second coating worked. I read from other reviews that you had to place the clothing in a dryer and let the heat dry the clothing. That's what I did with my jacket, after it was fully immersed, placed in it in the dryer for a couple of minutes on delicates. Went outside in the rain one day and the repellent worked, most rain drops were just sliding off my jacket like it did when it was brand new.Minus one star because the manufacturer's instructions were terrible, I had to rely on other customers to tell me how to use the product since the video instructions only tells you to let it dry and not place it in the dryer.

Pretty good, not great
Even good quality rain jackets and rain pants lose their "waterproofness" after a couple years, here on the coast of the Pacific NW. Think of it as a fuel gauge: When new, I can stay dry for 3 to 4 hours in a coastal rain. After a year, maybe 2 hours. After two years, maybe 1 hour. After three years, good luck. So, you can either buy a new jacket/pants, or try this stuff.Applied according to the directions -- including "set" time in the dryer -- I got back to 1 hour of waterproofness. So, not as good as new, but better than nothing. In addition, I've found that it has to be reapplied in a month -- and that means *every* month throughout the rainy season (which here means October through April). For me, it boils down to a price/hassle calculation: Is one hour of dryness good enough for you? Are you willing to spend the money for Granger's or another product? And the time applying it, every month? Can you get a new jacket at a good price? Etc. etc. etc.

Water ran off like a duck's back
I used the performance wash and the waterproofing spray. I must say I'm impressed. I had a number of technical running vests and jackets. All are fairly old and have been washed many times in regular washes. None have much if any water resistance left. I washed them and when they were slightly damp I sprayed them with the waterproofer. Then put them all in the dryer and tested them when they came out. Water ran off each one like a ducks back. I tested under the tap in the sink and the water ran off. I was impressed. I washed and proofed 4 items and have plenty of product left over. I would guess I can get another two washes and waterproofing from these with about 4-5 items in each.

Read this
Had to review this.I have a mountain equipment lightline jacket. Down interior. Drilite loft outer. It is the warmest jacket ever. Once I trained at football in it, I sweated badly and it had a whiff. So I had to wash it. I foolishly did not read the instructions and washed with standard detergent. It lost its waterproof. I was quite annoyed at myself.I have tried nikwax, two different kinds. Nikwax was OK. Nikwax repealed water if you poured a jug on it. But if you sprayed it with a fine spray the water wiped off at first but it left a damp shadow. Eventually you were simply wet through. This stuff however has totally worked. After drying my jacket in the tumble drier not only jugs of water, but also fine spray, simply heads and wipes off. This was recommended to me by mountain equipment when I rang them up for advice. If you want TOTAL waterproof then in my opinion Grangers seems to work better than nikwax.

The spray tube
The spray tube on both bottles was blocked up with dried out liquid . I had to rod the tube out before use as it would not spray .

Ok, so here is my beef. The product ...
Ok, so here is my beef. The product shown in the picture is "Performance Repel" and the bottle is 500ml. The description doesn't contain the volume of the product, rather lists the weight in Grams. I can't help but feel that this has been done intentionally by the seller. My mistake, I should have looked closer at theocratical reviews, yet I did get the product I wanted. Had I paid close attention to the bottles Iw ould have realized it wasn't the right one being displayed. A bit agitated here.

Great product, bad nozzle
The product itself was great, worked as advertised. I followed the instructions on the bottle and it worked like a charm. However I will caution that the cap and spray nozzle was very poorly designed. I had mine break within the first few squeezes to get the liquid up the tube. I was forced to use a dollar store nozzle which did the trick, but it was pretty disappointing how fragile that piece was.

Spray action dodgy!
The spray action doesn’t work. I have had to transfer the trigger action from another container in order to get the liquid from the bottle.
