So far, so good!
I purchased this brother sc6600 thru amazon marketplace seller Better-Deals for 55 plus shipping. It was listed as used, like new condition and does look that way. The description didn't state the accessories it came with, and my email to the seller was never answered which was disappointing. One reviewer stated the machine she purchased came with all accessories, so I ordered it hoping mine would as well. It came in just a few days and arrived in the original box, which had a 10" cut in the box that looked like it happened in transit, since I can't believe it would be shipped gaping open like that. Fortunately, the item was not damaged since the machine was packed inside the box in molded styrofoam. It works completely fine, sews smoothly, starts evenly and stops gently. At first I thought the tension needed adjustment, but found that I hadn't threaded the bobbin correctly, even though I've used Brother as well as other machines before. After re-reading the threading instructions I found online, the tension problem was cleared up, and the stitches are perfect now, and there are so many to choose from. The self threading is nice and the ease of changing stitches great. It's very lightweight also.Accessories included the power cord and foot pedal, 7 presser feet including the standard one that was attached, 2 bobbins (there were supposed to be 3), 2 standard needles (there were supposed to be 3), 1 heavy duty needle, 1 double needle, 1 seam ripper, an extra spool spindle, 3 sizes of spool spindle caps to hold the spool of thread on the spindle, 1 washer type screwdriver, and 1 plastic bag for the small accessories. There was no operation manual and no quick setup sheet, but both are available online in pdf format for downloading. I bought this to have a second machine in another location. My other machine is an older Bernina that still works very well, but I find I like the way this one sews even better. I rated the machine 5 stars, but would rate the seller down a bit for lack of response to my email to them and because the box arrived gashed open. Overall, very pleased with this purchase.

Jams up when doing zig zag and buttonhole stitch
Very disappointed in this machine. After doing repeated zig zag stitching and buttonholes for more than 15 minutes, the machine inevitably "gets tired" and refuses to do any more. The thread gets tangled in the bobbin area or the stitches just become random stitches...some straight, some zig zag. Button hole stitches are no longer uniform. I have tried adjusting tension, cleaning, rethreading, as suggested by manual and Brother help line.

Excellent Machine
What I love most about this machine are its built-in failsafes. If the thread is messing up or the bobbin thread is somehow out of position, etc. then I will get an error. now, a lot of the time the error is generic and I still have to go fishing around for what happened, but nonetheless, i like the feature. i think it has saved me a lot of broken needles.I love the greater range of decorative stitches and the ability to adjust width and length exactly on the screen, which my mechanical Brother naturally lacks. It is a pleasure to sew with this machine. That said, it is not the perfect machine. The thread tension, as with my other non-computerized Brother, loosens after a while, and both machines have a tendency for the upper thread to become dislodged and need to be threaded again without warning, especially at higher sewing speeds.Overall, though, this machine is great for sewing, and I love using it. I would recommend this for beginners on up,but if you have a lot of projects, tend to sew very quickly, or deal with heavier fabrics, a more powerful and reliable machine would be better.

Poor Quality
I have used many sewing machines in my life. I have previously used a Kenmore with great success. When I started using it is was very evident that it was poor quality. It simply felt like it was going to fall apart any minute. Perhaps if you were sewing a pillow case or hemming a t-shirt it would serviceable. In any event it broke when sewing 2 pieces of felt together. I then purchased a Singer Classic and have had great results on the same project ever since.

So far, so good
I got a great deal on this, making it no more expensive than some of the lesser "entry level" machines. Hard to complain, as long as it lasts for a while. It will be used only infrequently, so my use may not be typical. I'll admit, I was a bit surprised how plasticky these new machines are. Seems almost toy-like. Totally a different beast from my grandmother's old Kenmore machine of 40+ years ago! You could have used that thing as an anvil.

LOVE IT!
I love this sewing machine! It replaced a singer that I bought and hated. This is so easy to use, has so many options and looks fantastic! It is also relatively light weight which is nice for me (live in an apt) and have to move it around a lot. Does amazing work - would buy a brother again for sure!

Nice beginner sewing machine
Shipping was fast! Once I received the package it was easy to use. There are sewing pattern guides on the side of the machine which makes it easy to choose what number to set the machine on. The customer manual was easy to read and it helped in picking needle sizes for different projects.
