The real thing - a little battle worn
My stack of CDR's came yesterday, wrapped in 3 layers like a baby in a cocoon; inside is a shrink and cellotape wrapped stack. They seem to be the real T-Y thing, just like the old blue cake boxes of Fujifilm CDR's I used to buy years ago. As described by others, the patterned blue-grey overprinting, while a little dark, is not objectionable at all.Just be aware of the caveats of buying a stack like this shrink-wrapped rather than in a cake box. The bottom 5 (or so) CDR's in the stack show evidence of scratching on the edge, as well as various other minor surface imperfections in the polycarbonate side. Probably due to pressure, storage, and handling. I intend to use those for non-critical stuff, especially chosen as to not full the disc 100% as that's where the circumferential scrapes are. Otherwise, no worries. Now for some quality scans with my DW-1655...

once again you guys are the greatest. Thanx again & again & for the nice ...
Mike...once again you guys are the greatest. Thanx again & again & for the nice surprise bonus. There is not a better vendor on the face of the earth. You have a customer for life...AAA++++++ all the way! That is my personal message to the vendor. As a retired senior citizen..I now devote my time to my passion...recording dj "OLDIES" shows for the public. The shows are starting to grow in popularity and I now have ordered pretty close to one-thousand of these cd-r "Blessed Mother Blue" discs with only three failures in the "burn" process. This is a fantastic success rate and yes...Our Lady had more than something to do with me stumbling upon these discs and vendor as I pondered how I was going to make mucho copies of the shows that would put a smile on the face of many...but at a reasonable cost to myself These discs jumped out at me although at the time I had no idea what Taiyo-Yuden meant. But I knew they would be good...and the price...you simply cannot do better! To boot...the seller now ships through Amazon's warehouse which means that orders over $35 ship for free! This just clinches it for me. The "Blessed Mother Blue" discs are actually blue overprints...they're too dark.for JVC's purposes but perfect formine. Having experience as an assistant foreman in a plastics factory that also sported a printing dept....I know that print can sometimes run too dark upon startup and that is probably what is going on here. So you windup with first rate recordable media that still takes nicely to your marking pen whether blue, black or red.It is also nice to know that there will be almost no "ERROR" messages when recording or burning. You will notice that your burner program runs much smoother with these also...a wonderfully satis only on the top clear protecting disc as everything underneath in the cake stack is solid medium blue with asfying experience indeed. Mike goes the extra mile for you as well...and that is something rather rare and special these days. The discs can only be used once...they are NOT Re-recordable or rewriteable discs. Still...they are most reliable and packaged wonderfully. The print you see in the supplied picture is only on the top clear protecting disc as the discs underneath are a solid medium blue with sort of a paisely swirly surface that mates well with the permanent marker pen. Go get 'em! You'll be glad you did!

Buy but read first!!
If you're sensitive to smells like me, I wouldn't recommend buying these because the smell of the paint is overwhelming. If over time it goes away, the rating will be improved. Also be aware the disks come wrapped with no spindle, so be careful handling them and have a spare spindle.Once unwrapped, 100 disks can easy slip out of hand and get damaged. This in addition to the fact that these are a great quality CD-R media as other reviews have mentioned.Hope my review was helpful to you

GREAT DISCS - Genuine JVC, no fails after many successful burns -
A quick review on these discs to allay any concerns that some may have about purchasing these "overprinted" discs. The CDs appear to be genuine Taiyo Yuden/JVC discs - inscription side color/sheen matches other JVCs I have, and more importantly, each disc is inscribed with JVC and code number on its inner ring. The gray silk screening on the label side of the disc is actually more pleasing than I anticipated - not a solid gray, but a nice blue/gray with a slightly embossed geometric patter of squares made of interlocking quarter circles. The overall effect is a slightly embossed label side that makes it attractive to label with a Sharpie, and provides a protective barrier for the ink. Also - it could be my imagination, but the printed label side makes the disc itself feel more solid, more substantial. Don't know whether it adds stability to the disc while playing, but if there's any net effect, that would be my guess. It should be noted that the printed message that appears in the accompanying illustration of the discs (JVC 52X Overprints") does NOT appear on the discs themselves. This message appears on the top clear disc that sits on top of the stack. The stack itself does NOT come with a spindle holder - you are purchasing 100 CDs only; cello-wrapped and sealed quite nicely, but you may want to keep your old spindle. The elimination of the spindle does make it easier to ship, and I was grateful for the upgrade to priority shipping that resulted in delivery of the discs within days of purchase.Bottom line - this audiophile couldn't be more pleased! This stack o' discs was a great deal, offering high quality at a reasonable price, with fast delivery.Five stars!UPDATE 11/29/14 - How pleased am I? I just purchased another stack o'discs! No fails in 100 burns!
