Not rain proof.
So far it looks good, will report back after I see how it holds up to the weather (rain, wind and sun color fading).Looking at the instructions that came with it, it states its not waterproof - so not good for rain. Also mentions it does not guarantee against rust, another concern.Also doesn't have a locking pin to prevent the umbrella from collapsing. My pevious umbrella had the locking pin which allowed me to open the umbrella, lock it with the pin and ease off the crank. It does however allow the head to tilt.Not perfect, but so far appears satisfactory for the price.

Quality
After two weeks of use the plastic housing of the crank crack and a small piece broke that expose the crank mechanisms. It still works so i will use until it completely fails or becomes unreliable.
