American Kennel Club AKC Reversible Pet Cooling Mat for Dogs & Cats

It feels cool, but my Neapolitan mastiff-Rottweiler-Pitbull mix doesn't seem keen on it. I put it on his raised bed, he did his best to avoid going on it, I put it on the floor, made him lie on it and he got up as soon as my back was turned. Tried several times and so far have only seen him on it once. Hopefully he will get the idea because the feel like temperature outdoor is in the 99 - 104F range daily for the past two weeks. Even the night is still hot and he hasn't been sleeping on his bed because of the heat which is causing his hip dysplasia to act up.UPDATERaised review by one star to 4. I put it on the raised bed and he has actually started sleeping on it at night! Every morning I find it wadded up so it seems he paws it around during the night and I've even seen him sleeping on it in the mid-morning which he had stopped doing!

This mat is soft and pliable and feels cool to the touch. However, if it is outside and the temps are very warm it will not really help at all. I had mine on a covered patio for my little feral cat to use when needed but when it got up in the 80's the mat did not feel cool to the touch anymore. Kitty ignores it now because it does not supply any coolness at all when it is very warm.

I just received this item today so I can’t speak too much about it just yet. First impressions are mainly good though. It was 97 degrees out today so when I got home and brought the box in from the porch it was hot obviously. I removed the mat from the box and was a little concerned because it was warm to the touch so didn’t know if I needed to do something to “activate” the cooling. I laid it on the floor and within a few minutes it was drastically cooler to the touch. The dog is still leery about it and won’t lay on it, but the cat loves it! Only complaint is the size. I bought the XL and it shows a Mastiff laying on it on the box-very misleading. You can see from my photo that the cat fits nicely on it.

I give this two stars because it’s cute but I found it completely useless. Did not feel cool at all, and my dog who gets so overheated and loves to lay right in front of fans, didn’t even want to lay on it. When I received it, it also felt like it had a little leak but I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. Would recommend just spending that extra money to get a better functioning cooling pad for your doggo.

So living in Washington, if anyone had noticed the last few weeks it's been hot, especially without air conditioning. I bought this really for my cat in the summer and in the fall, winter and spring I'm able to use this for myself if needed.It actually arrived in a small plastic covering, thinking I got the wrong size, but to my surprise in was the right size and from other reviews it was actually cold to the touch. I got the tan color because I have a white cat and I needed it to fit the color with the floor. I haven't have had any issues so far with this product. Maybe with the cat not laying on it.

UPDATED REVIEW: My pug still really loved this pad but only after having it for less then two months, it popped.... sad to see it go but can’t have it leaking everywhere. I supervised my pup while on it so I really don’t know how it popped ...My pug loves this . Yes it’s only been one day of using it but she hasn’t got off of it! She’s a puppy so this is her first summer and I know with this, it will keep her cooled! Such a great purchase I wish i got a bigger size cause she’s a spoiled pug. I highly recommend!!!

Husky Mix likes it. It gets in the 90’s kinda often where we live. It’s filled it some sort of gel. The box says not to wash it, but go rub it with a wet towel if it gets dirty. The box was surprisingly heavy.its waterproof though. Feels like the stuff rain jackets are made of. It’s cool to the touch no matter what so far.

Wish my dogs would use it...I'd be more comfortable! It does what it say it will do, unfortunately none of my three Labs will use it, even in this Texas summer heat. I bought with the intention of bringing it with me for my REGISTERED Guide Dog, but the large size is just too heavy to lug around.
