Seiko Black Dial Sportura
I bought my first Seiko in 1971 & still own it to this day. I bought this Sportura as a gift for my nephew/godson several years ago. He wore it to a recent family reunion & said he receives lots of compliments when he wears it. It's a beautiful watch made by a great watchmaker.

Alarm watch FCB
This is a beautiful looking watch, with a nice big face. It looks good on the wrist. The stop watch is fine but only times for 60 minutes. The alarm works well but is very very quiet! Do not buy this for its alarm function. You can not hear it unless the environment is very quiet. It's a nice poseur watch, but really lacks any other function than telling the time. It's an aesthetic adornment and little else. But it is very good looking! Hence the 4 stars.

Elegant look !
This is one of the very elegant looking watches I have ever purchased. Not just because I am a big fan of FCB, but Seiko watches are very excellent reputation brand in the world. I've worn this watch 3 times and i got nice comments every time.Cheers.

A nice watch in a cheap box....
My wife bought this watch for me, for our anniversary knowing that I collect watches and I'm a big FC Barcelona fan. It is a nice watch for the price you are paying, but it doesn't come in that beautiful leather case. It comes in a cheap, wear out blue paper box. This is not a collectable! They are just using the Barcelona logo to sell their watches to the fans. Is a gimmick and a good looking watch, nothing else!

European class in a Japanese watch
I own an Omega Sea Master Professional (James Bond style but quartz, not automatic) and a hand winding ultra slim Zenith Elite. For work I use a cheap Casio with stop watch (increments of 1/100 of second, not 1/10 of second like the Swiss watches), dual time, alarm, night illumination and 10 year battery life. I needed a decent chronograph watch not because I intend to time anything when I go to weddings or other functions, but because they seem to be very popular these days. I did not want to break the bank. The Missus made it clear that if I spend more than 600 dollars she was going to send me to see a psychiatrist. So after days and days of research on the Web I narrowed it down to Victorinox Swiss Army, Tissot, Citizen Eco Drive Atomic and Seiko. Then I went a few times to a mall with several wrist watch dealers. I learned from the vendors that the Citizens came from Hong Kong. While I know that many Japanese watches are assembled in China, I was no longer that excited about Citizens. I also felt the Citizen Eco Drive Atomic watches were a bit overloaded with features. Plus, I am not a in a business requiring atomic precision in time keeping. The Citizens were 25 % off but next to them I saw the Seiko section.Seiko watches were 30 % off. Somehow, I saw only the Seiko FC Barcelona with steel bracelet. I prefer leather bracelets because they are classier. Metal is so proletarian. I also went several times to a Tissot dealer. He was reasonable and ready to give me a 25 % discount but the Tissot watches in my pre-established price range were uninspiring. Moreover, the hands of the watches were hardly luminous and the hour markers were even less luminous. The dealer told me the luminous substance is radioactive and that only in the 1960s the watches were strongly luminous in the dark. The Victorinox watches that I really liked (a bit larger in size) were too expensive for my range.Disappointed, I went home. I found the Seiko FC Barcelona watch with leather band on the Web, printed it and returned to the Seiko dealer, hoping he was going to order it form me. Guess what, he still had one such watch in stock. The moment I saw it I liked it. The sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating. With its stainless steel case of 42 mm in diameter, the FC Barcelona is a bit trendily oversize without being ridiculously large. The three burgundy subdials contrast pleasantly with the wider black dial. The showy crest of the Barcelona soccer club sits close to the lower burgundy dial, between 4 and 5 o'clock. As I intend to use it as a dress watch although Seiko considers it a sports watch, I was not concerned that the chronograph's increments are only 1/5 of second. I do not think I will use the alarm, the tachymeter and the stop watch very much, either (I do not think too many chronograph watch owners do). The minute hand is sharply pointed, which makes it easier to read the correct time. So many watches have minute hands that, for the sake of originality, display shapes that make it really hard to read the precise time. The leather band's colors fit very well the colors of the dial. Indeed, the burgundy of the subdials matches the burgundy of the leather band's inner face. The lugs are a bit curved so the watch wraps up the wrist rather comfortably. And the hands and hour markers are satisfyingly luminous, Mr. Tissot dealer! On the minus side, the date window is squeezed between the FC Barcelona crest, 4 and 5 o'clock and the lower burgundy subdial. As a result, the date numbers are so small that you I have to find a very well lit area and squint to see the date. But I ignored that and bought the watch because of its general feel of exquisite European elegance and superb color combination.Perhaps I was also swayed by the news that Tag Heuer is now buying parts from Seiko? Indeed, last year, the Swatch Group of Switzerland (Breguet, Blancpain, Tiffany, Omega, Longines, Tissot, Swatch-to name some of their brands) announced they were going to reduce the amount of parts sold to the other watch manufacturers, their rivals. Nine Swiss companies (Tag Heuer included) took the Swatch group to court. The Swatch group won. On March 21 of this year Reuters wrote that Tag Heuer, a unit of French luxury group LVMH, said a deal it announced earlier to use parts from Seiko Instruments Inc. would not hurt its "Swiss made" image as the company is a member of the Swiss Chronometry Society. According to Reuters, Tag Heuer's Chief Executive Jean-Christophe Babin stated that "We are the first company to announce in a transparent way that we are going to fit our movements with parts from Seiko, which are known as among the best." I do not know how good this is going to be for Tag Heuer, but it is certainly excellent propaganda for Seiko. I paid for my Seiko FC Barcelona $ 453 Canadian, tax included. I wish you good watch hunting.
