Thought it did'nt work, but It was fine!
My mighty mule opener was starting to sound sluggish and finally failed to open. Thought it might be the batteries and replaced them. The gate opened just fine for a few weeks, then started to sound sluggish again and then failed to open. Checked to control board indicator lights and determined that the system was not charging, then found out that the Mighty mule transformer had failed after 18 years. Ordered a new one, slapped it in, 24 hours later checked the battery voltage and found that it was down to about 2 volts which is a long way from the rated voltage of 12. Pulled the battery off the system and did a manual charge for a day, then reinstalled the battery back into the gate control box, the system then saw the battery and began its normal charge cycle. So the lesson learned is that if the system batteries become too discharged the Mighty Mule charge controller will no longer see the system batteries. In my case a manual battery charge was all I needed to bring the system back online. This prevented having to purchase a new control board which would not have solved the problem.

This part of my MM gate opener has been replaced ...
This part of my MM gate opener has been replaced THREE times in less than 18 months of use. Sometimes the light still works, but no output. Other times no light, no power. I hope this one last longer than 6 months as 30 day return window is now closed...UPDATE: Had too high a hopes I guess....This replacement factory unit lasted from early June to late August. Verified function yesterday and walked by it today by luck to find it off. No light, no power. Electrical outlet still works, no breaker tripped. I've switched to using a $10 Harbor Freight battery float charger to bypass the whole game of "find the MM power problem" every few months.

They don't last forever, but not bad for the price.
The transformer on my gate opener seems to die every couple years. Usually I order directly from Mighty Mule, but in this case I was desperate to have the unit online quicker. I found this unit on Amazon, and it appears to be an exact match for the original product from Mighty Mule. The wiring connections are identical to the original, and it ven includes the center screw mount (you can't see it in the photo) to anchor the transformer into the outlet. It supplies an honest 18V, even under the full load of the trickle charge.I read through the specifications, and while it doesn't list a low temp minimum, it does indicate that the unit will malfunction at low ambient temperatures. Our winters here in the Northwest are typically pretty mild, but we very occasionally get temps down into the single digits. Such was the case last week when my old unit failed, and if memory serves, the same conditions occurred last time on of these things failed. So, I guess the unit could certainly be a little more robust. On the other hand, they don't cost a whole lot of money, and if $20 a year is the cost of not getting out in all sorts of weather to open the gate, it is a fair deal for me. I finally ordered a spare, so I am not dependent on the UPS guy next time one dies.

It is what it is, a replacement transformer
Not much to say about it other than it's the OEM replacement for the 4 year old transformer that went belly up for my gate opener. Back in service. If I had a complaint it would just be that it took longer than usual to get, but it was delivered by their listed ETA at the time of purchase, so I guess I can't really complain about that...

Transformer for Mighty Mule gate opener battery.
Bought this transformer to replace a unit blown out by lightning. Unfortunately for me, two weeks later the circuit board in the gate opener's control box was hit by another nearby lightning strike. Not only was the circuit board destroyed but also one of the opener's arms was toasted. I ended up ordering a whole new Mighty Mule dual gate opener with gate openers, circuit board, transformer, etc. Now I have a transformer which work as advertised plus a spare. I also bought lightning insurance for the next time I'm hit by God's wrath. One word of advice. Be sure and use a surge protector for the transformer.

Unit lasted a grand total of 6 days. This ...
Unit lasted a grand total of 6 days. This was my 2nd RB570 replacement in 10 months. Piece of junk (GTO). I'm switching to after-market transformers that don't have any relationship to "gate openers" (GTO) which are half the price. I paid $14 one year ago for an RB570. Now I'm paying $23 for a unit that lasted 6 days?

Be patient
First replacement was a dud, the second was damaged in transit because of the poor design of the box, third time was a charm. Works as expected. I am not a fan of the approach of having this remote charger, but I will see how this replacement fares over time. They seem to have a thermal cutout that causes them to trip out. So if you have a failure let it reset and try again.
