Edgy, low-budget trilogy. 'Dogma' is a controversial supernatural comedy starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as Loki and Bartleby, two fallen angels who discover a religious loophole which will allow them to re-enter heaven. The angel Metatron (Alan Rickman) arrives on earth to tell abortion doctor and lapsed Catholic Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) that the fate of mankind lies in her hands - if the fallen angels make it back to heaven, all God's creation will be erased. Together with prophets Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith), the forgotten 13th disciple Rufus (Chris Rock) and heavenly muse Serendipity (Salma Hayek), Bethany must thwart the evil angels before they unwittingly cause the end of the world. Singer Alanis Morissette makes a cameo appearance as God. 'Human Traffic' is the debut feature from writer/director Justin Kerrigan and focuses on one wild weekend in Cardiff. A group of five friends escape the drab mundanity of daily existence and sample a hedonistic cocktail of drugs, clubs and sex. Jip (John Simm) is a twenty-something shop worker, Lulu (Lorraine Pilkington) is a full-on clubber, Moff (Danny Dyer) is a chilled-out dope dealer who also happens to be the son of a policeman, whilst Koop (Shaun Parkes) works in a record shop and gets increasingly paranoid that someone will steal his girlfriend Nina (Nicola Reynolds). Together, the five friends move from nightclubs to parties, getting more and more stoned as the night progresses. The soundtrack features club favourites by Fat Boy Slim, Underworld and Primal Scream. Finally 'Shallow Grave' is a gory thriller set in Edinburgh and produced by the team responsible for 'Trainspotting'. Three yuppie flatmates (Kerry Fox, Christopher Eccleston and Ewan McGregor) advertise for a fourth person to join them in their swanky apartment. They end up with a mysterious man who promptly dies in his bed of a drug overdose, leaving a million pounds cash in a suitcase under his bed. The greedy threesome then agree to dispose of the body and keep the loot. However, this means cutting off the hands and feet of the body, smashing the teeth, and finally burying it in the woods. They also ignore the rightful owners of the money, remaining unaware that those owners are, along with the police, hot on their trail.
