Good simple explanations
This book was written in 2014 and it starts by referring to Mind Maps as a new concept. That was surprising since the concept has been around for a long time, the term "mind maps" was coined in 1974. Despite the rough start, the author does a good job to describe the concepts in a simple way using simple words aimed at non-technical people. A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. He explains not only what it is but how to use mind maps to write books, to study a topic, brainstorming.Ali Julia review

Really helpful for everyday life.
Thoroughly interesting and informative, a `Mind Map' is basically a diagram that you create which organises your thoughts on one page. This book takes you through step by step processes to create your own and shows you every day applications for them.Allow me to quote from the first paragraph from the book - "We live in the information age, which means that our problem is less one of obtaining information and more one of retaining and organising all the quantities of information that we are required to ingest-both during our studies and afterwards."This is so true of my life. I feel that my brain is so cluttered with so many muddled thoughts that I can't easily access things I need and am left feeling confused and disorganised. Mind Maps is a tool that will enable me to use both sides of my brain rather than one; thus enabling my brain to perform 5-10 times more effectively. Show me a person who doesn't want that in their life! It simplifies complicated information by breaking it down into a diagram that delivers the information in a quick glance `map' rather than long laborious lists which are hard to digest.I can see that it would have great uses for students, writers or anyone giving a presentation. I personally am non academic and live on a homestead farm; for me in everyday life I can see several uses for planning my garden and renovation projects and to solve problems that crop up therein. I can also see it would be beneficial to estimate a timescale to these events. At the moment I seem to have list upon list of countless tasks that now seem insurmountable. I plan to sit down with a large sheet of paper and create my own Mind Map this very evening. The book also includes access to free software. One is web-based, so with a quick click of a link, I was able to start using it right away. The other options are nice as well, though you have to download and install them on your computer. Since they are all free, they pay for the book several times over. Many thanks for such a helpful read!

Med Student
I struggled last semester in med school. I had a really hard time trying to learn all of the information. Sometimes I would normally look at our scribe notes which are usually 8-12 pages depending on the class. That was just too much information for me to handle. I noticed that I had a lot of trouble following ppt presentations (probably because most professors don't know how to make a proper presentation). I felt like teachers would talk about one subtopic, move to the next one, and then bring it back to the first subtopic (which is good). However, I had a hard time fixing my notes to show the connections. Now I just draw an arrow and look at the map 1-2 times a week and I remember how the ideas connect. Anyway I used this book to sketch my notes in class. At home I would either retrace or redraw. Since following this book with a few personal modifications for my busy lifestyle, my grades have soared from barely passing to As and Bs. I now am able to easily follow lectures and working half as hard.

This is a great book. I like the way the author explains ...
This is a great book. I like the way the author explains his points and then provide a detail example of his explanation. Also, I never thought mind maps could be used for other subjects like decision taking, planning and remembering a misplaced object. On the other hand, he mentions other books that I want to read to expand the subject as well as other softwares that I want to buy like EDraw. He mentions that they are free but as to this date they are not any more. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to deep deeper into mind maps.

A Good Introduction and Overview of Mind Mapping
I've been messing with mind maps off and on for some time and really have never quite gotten the hang of it despite a nagging feeling that it's something I should be using more. I'm a visual sort of person and mind maps can be a good way of creating expandable overviews of a subject. I've been looking for a good overview of mind mapping in general just to see if there's something about it that I'm missing. This book provides descriptions of several possible uses for mind mapping, both hand drawn and computer generated. The emphasis is more on hand drawn mind maps, for example, for note taking and research. Being a computer geek I tend to like to use software whenever possible. This book is a little light on the software end of things, but that's primarily because it doesn't really matter whether you're doing it by hand or via software. The principles are the same.In general, I found the book to be informative and helpful in understanding the mind mapping concept. Suggestions for uses of mind mapping brought up other areas where mind mapping might be useful. Now it's up to me to work more with mind maps to get a better handle on the mechanics of them.

Very good introduction or review of Mind Mapping basics
This book is a quick read that covers the basic premise of Mind Mapping. Examples are well chosen to illustrate the topics being covered. It overly focuses on retaining some aspects in memory, which conflicts with other authors and concepts that hold that the power of the technique is to be found in freeing the mind from such retention tasks and allow it to focus on grasping relationships. The author does mention this aspect, but subordinates it when advocating for retention in memory.

Not enough examples!
This books gives a good overview of mind mapping, which in my opinion, is a great study and memory tool for all types of situations. Saying this though, this book does not give enough "proper" examples. If you are to buy this book, then i would suggest getting the paperback version as the kindle version is in black and white. If there were more examples then a probably would have give this book a better rating. If you are new to the idea of mind mapping and need a quick overview then this book should serve you well, but if you are like me and are familiar with the concepts of mind mapping then i would suggest buying books by Tony Buzan (the creator of the mind mapping concept).

Brilliant and easy to follow
I love mind maps. My brain is a jumble of dis and inter connected ideas, thoughts, beliefs etc. I used to struggle to capture what was going on, mainly so I could explain to others. Then I discovered mind mapping; probably pushing 20 years ago. Suddenly, my note taking or random words on paper had relevance. I could use the way my mind works to capture, assimilate and explain in a meaningful way. They are so easy, so functional and work at every level. From initial 'brainstorming' of ideas in a single or group scenario, to informing a more structured approach to Prince2 or other project management principles, these 'maps' are the foundation. They may not work for everyone, but I found them a revelation and over many years of applied practice in learning environment, I know many who embraced the main points. Give them a go, you have nothing to lose!

Good summary but needs a reasonable size screen to view
Reading on your mobile will make some of the illustrations tricky to read as they don't zoom but when viewed on my laptop they worked well and were useful examples.Mind mapping is a great skill and this book explains the underlying principles as well as providing some interesting use examples

Excellent overview
This is an excellent overview of the technique of mind mapping. It offers more than an introduction: it gets you fully up to speed with everything you need to know and without being overly long. It also has good links to helpful web sites. A great book.
