I heard nothing but Good things
Based on my experience, I can say with complete confidence that despite one or two features that I had wanted to see incorporated in this navigation system, it is by far the best GPS for heavy commercial vehicles on the market today.I have tried all of them; Cobra, Garmin, magellan and PC Miler along with Copilot. This Rand Mcnally is without equal. It offers some of the most vitally important features to commercial drivers that all others have simply missed.Setting up is easy and intutive. The standard routing is adequate for 95% of all commercial needs. If you have specofic needs, all you need to do is go the setup and change routing to suite your specific applications. The data base for the most popular truck stops are one click away and it is par none, the best there is.The processor is powerful, driving the software at lightning speed. The touch screen is highly responsive; almost eerily so with various clicking sounds for various tasks. The screen is GD and it is a pleasure to look at.The alerts are very highly specific to commercial applications that there is probably no way that driving workloads will lead you to miss anything that needs your attention, such as weigh station or border crossing or a change in max speed limit. If you are a commercial driver looking for a Truck specific Nav System, this is it. Nothing else comes close.

Exellent Upgrade
I upgraded my husbands GPS from the 400 series that he had been using for 3 years (I forgot which 400 series it was) and my husband was shocked when he opened the box. It was a LOT bigger than the older one and he loved it! The power button is on top which is a lot better than the other one, that was located on the bottom left. He's a night driver so the settings for night impressed him. The best feature he enjoys using is the Bread Crumb feature, which allows him to mark off road trails, which is great because he works in the oil fields so there is a lot of off road driving with bad directions from dispatch, this helps cut down on drive time and getting lost. The power button is customizable and the one thing he uses it for is one push and it saves your current location. You can group or categorize destinations which is also very helpful. An excellent buy! Another impressive product from Rand McNally!

Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop........
Great software! Too bad you can't just buy the software and install on your computer/pad/tablet.I started with a 710. After 1 year, it would just freeze, then turn off constantly until it died. Rand McNally told me that this was a wide-spread problem and that there was no fix for it. I bought a refurbished 700 from Amazon...big mistake. It died in 3 months. So...I went to the well for the third time and bought this 720. Best program for a long-distance truck driver out there, IMO.I have tried them all. Great for trip planning, finding rest areas, truck stops, repair shops, WalMart, etc. Blu Tooth, Internet hookup for changing weather conditions. If this is still running a year from now I'll give it that fifth star....until then I'm keeping my Garmin car Nuvi as my backup....NEVER let me down.UPDATE: 7/19/13. Still working like a dream.UPDATE: 1/26/15. No problems. Looks like Rand McNally got it right this time.

My husband loves this GPS. It was a replacement ...
My husband loves this GPS. It was a replacement for a TND 710 in which the speaker quit working after three years. The 720 has a protective rubber covering and the charging port is now in the back, otherwise seems to be the same. Hope this one works as long as his 710 did because he wanted to keep the 710 as a backup so I called Rand McNally and told them even though it was out of warranty I wanted to send it in and have the speaker repaired at my cost. Of course, their call center was in a foreign country, the guy I spoke with was very rude, told me that they don't even have the hardware to repair it. I ended up so frustrated I just had to eventually hang up on him. Guess the 710 will end up in the trash because I don't think my husband will take the chance on using it without a speaker while driving, too dangerous to have to take your eyes off the road to keep looking at it. By the way, we did get external speakers for it but the sound was distorted too much with the engine and road noise.Hoping the speaker issues have been worked out with his 720 model.

Having some problems after 2 months
Whewww so we have the gps Rand McNally and it's been two months and no power, I am over the road and have gone to walmart, radio shack. and also trying best buy to find a replacement charger for trucks gps to see if this works, there has been no damage by me and I am stuck on the country roads to have to fin for myself. Rand McNally service hours for support and help sucks and their technicians are not sympathetic to the average truck driver who is not technical savy and really need them, we pay too much money for this to receive this type of service. Amazon was very good, and the square trade people were helpful, but said because so new, can't do anything until rand McNally does their thing. If they sell these for truck drivers they need to extend their support for truck drivers because they are 24x 7. You pay too much money for this to be stuck out on the road and no help from rand McNally and no where to get a replacement charger. Still trying. Update ::: So I have now sent back to Rand McNally and have had no gps for two weeks and found that the charger that is actually sold with RM is a cheap charger, they ask are you using the one we sent, YES DUHHH. I also have a garmin it's a very sturdy firm solid charger with garmin on the charger, the one that came with the new gps from rand McNally is a cheap flimsy charger and their name is not on it. This is more than likely what is causing these things to fail and not get or keep a charge..., I compared the two and it's unbelievable the differences in the chargers for these two. Cheap chargers come with the Rand McNally and their name is not on RM now I am told if they can't fix even though I brought a brand new one for over $300 they may have to send me a refurbished one, that is not right.
