Style:Garage Door Opener Now when the power goes out, your garage door opener will still work. The Chamberlain Whisper Drive with MyQ Technology and Battery Backup allows you complete use of your garage during a power outage. The safety and security features will continue to operate as well, ensuring your family is protected in a power failure. As added convenience features the opener has a timer-to-close function that will automatically close the garage door in case you forget, and MyQ technology that allows your garage door opener to automatically control interior and/or exterior lights (with purchase of additional MyQ accessories) so you will never come home to a dark house again. The opener also features smooth start and smooth stop to reduce the noise of the garage door as it opens and closes perfect for homes with a room above the garage.

Quite, very creepy quite.
Seriously this thing is creepy quite. Almost TOO quite. I replaced our circa 1970's 9 ton chain drive. The chain drive was nice because we always knew when someone came home. Didn't matter where in our house you were, you heard and felt the door opening. But NOW with this nice quite belt drive we hear nothing. A few notes on install. I've installed garage door replacements in each of our houses (and rentals). This is our first belt drive. This is easier to install than a chain drive unit, but a bit more difficult than a screw drive. Performance is similar to the screw drive only MUCH MUCH quieter. The only sound you hear is a quite whirring, and some creaking of our doors. Also pay close attention when assembling the main guide rail. The directions are very tiny and it is hard to make out the orientation of some of the pieces. I would recommend not snapping them together until you are 100% sure you have it right. It's almost impossible to get them apart after (experience). Also spend the extra time to follow the guide on properly adjusting the tension of the drive belt. This step turned the unit from a very quite garage door, to a damn near silent garage door. All in all great garage door opener.

Did Not Work For Me
I installed this unit, and fiddled with it for several days, called 1-800 number. Then I paid two (different) 30year pros to come fix it...They Could Not! The problem was that about 1 out of 20 close cycles , it went back up (randomly anywhere in the close cycle) with all safety cells properly aligned, no stray open signals, and not hitting anything.Actually I had installed two of these units on two doors, they both had the same UNACCEPTABLE problem, and the only fix was to remove both openers and replace them with a different make (also battery backed up system) . Both different make openers have worked flawlessly for hundreds of open & Close cycles, with absolutely NO changes to either door.Leon Stevens

Very QUIET Grarage Door Opener
We purchased this garage door opener to replace our 20 year old LOUD garage door opener. We went with this brand based on the customer reviews. My husband uninstalled the old unit and installed the new unit all by himself. This took him about 8 hours to do. Once it was installed we could not believe how QUIET this unit is! It is QUIET and now we wished we had purchased this a long time ago. Our only complaint and why I knocked a star off is we chose to use the garage door buttons installed in our car. My husbands 2015 Chrysler 200 synced right away but we could not get my 2008 Toyota Camry to sync so we had to purchase the bridge. Once we got that it synced in 20 seconds. We have had the unit about 6 months and have not had any issues. The master bedroom is over the garage and if you were trying to sleep with the old unit you would have been woken up by not only the noise but the vibration. With this unit I never hear the door open or close and have slept through it several times. So far very pleased and again wish we would have bought this years ago.

I really tried
This seemed like a great deal, even though I really didn't care for the MyQ functions. I like the belt drive and the DC motor so it can soft-start and soft-stop.I unpacked the whole thing and started assembling it, only to find that a couple of hardware bits were missing - the master link to close the belt, and a couple of other bolts. The bolts I simple replaced at the local hardware store since they're inexpensive and I didn't want to wait for replacements. However the master link wasn't available anywhere as it's a bit more specialized.I contacted the manufacturer's "Please don't return this to the store, call us" number. The lady on the other end was friendly and helpful, telling me that I should have it in (don't recall exactly) 5 to 8 days. Now first, I ordered this on Amazon so I could have it quickly. Anybody ordering such a device is _probably_ buying it because they have a garage door that currently does not open and close automatically - likely because their existing garage door opener has stopped functioning.Second, the master link is tiny and could fit in a regular envelope - regular mail in the US from just about anywhere doesn't take 5 to 8 days.Third, this is their mistake and they should be wanting to right it as quickly as possible.Well we're now 17 days after my call. I've been checking my mail box every day anxiously so I can finish installing this machine and stop having to walk through my front door to unlatch and manually open my garage door from the inside (with the ladder because I can't reach high enough). Still no trace of the replacement part.
