This yarn is PAST EXCELLENT!!
This yarn is PAST EXCELLENT !!? I have bought more than $300 of the LIONBRAND YARN BETWEEN THE1. HOMESPUN2. TWEEDSTRIPES3. THICK 'N QUICK& other types. With part of it, I'm currently making a "Granny Square" Afghan for one of mr Nephew's Wedding presents, with a Teal base. I will follow that up with a "LINCOLN LOG CABIN" Quilt, then a Cedar Trunk I'm making for J. P. & Jenna to keep them & any quilts they get in the future. I wouldn't trust this to ANYTHING but LIONBRAND. After I finish theirs, I'll be making one for all my kids (God willing - I've already finished Γ§a. 100 squares) 3 years ago I spent 3 months in the hospital. While I was there, I made Afghans for all 4 (my two sons & their wives). I never dreamed the reaction I'd get when they opened their Christmas Presents!!! They were all 4 not just thrilled, but amazed that I'd take the time to do this for all of them. I broke the silence of the moment by saying: "WELL! I had to have SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE to do while I was bed-fast for 3 MONTHS !.... Have any better suggestions ????" To which I got a QUICK & RESOUNDING "NOOOOO" in unison !!! I've never added photos of my work before but I thought since a lot of people crochet I would. Since this yarn is irregularly thick (much thicker than the normal "run of the mill" Red Heart Yarn which I'm using around the outside of each block to trim it in Teal), these blocks are approximately 10" in diameter - unusual for a general Granny Square Afghan. I have one that I made with my grandmother Lennie Traylor, more than 40 years ago. She taught me HOW to Crochet all kinds of things. She also taught me how to make a "DOUBLE WEDDING RING QUILT God bless her, I still have the damnedest time piecing one of those CORRECTLY !!!

Favorite yarn
This is my all time favorite yarn. The colors are beautiful and are super soft. Sometimes it can be trickier for a newer knitter because it can bunch up (not a lot but sometimes) which can be hard for someone just learning.I use 9 mm or size 13 knitting needles to make blankets with this yarn and it comes out semi-tight with small holes in it.

I really like this homespun thread
I really like this homespun thread. I'm new to crochet but I've done two scarfs and some hats in this thread so far and I just love the feel of it. Its acrylic and after reading reviews we just hand wash the items and let them air dry.The color of this is mottled. Green is the base undertone but it wanders into a rich stretch of reds and orange sand sometimes deep purples. It is not a feminine group of colors and I can't see it considered girly. Its earthy and warm. The thread that holds the yarn in its curl is dark green. I like that more then the lighter one I used that had white thread. I really can't see it at all. However, this stuff can be a pain to work with when you need very exact stitches. It just takes time to get used to the curl of the thread. I had to restart an infinity scarf three times before I got the pattern to lay flat and not twist when I looped back around. The work is well worth it and the colors compliment anything you are making.

Splits & Snarls Galore!
On the plus side, this yarn is beautiful, with the way the colors blend together (only reason for 2 stars). The photo of the finished blanket in a pattern is what convinced me to buy this yarn for the project. But if I'd known ahead of time just how this yarn is constructed, and how difficult it can be to work with it, I'd never have done it. The yarn is made up of (a) unplied fibers and (b) some kind of monofilament. The fibers are sort of wrapped around the monofilament and 'scrunched' to get the wavy texture that the yarn displays. It's more than easy to catch a needle tip in the monofilament and break it, or in loops of the fibers; this yarn damn near leaps on any passing needle to impale itself! You have to knit loose; you can't pull the yarn tight because the wavy fibers get caught on the monofilament ( if you haven't broken it ), and trying to knit tight means constantly catching a tip in the fiber. If you insist on using this, don't plan on using anything but garter stitch. The yarn's texture likely wouldn't allow any stitch detail to show, and you'd end up in the nearest psych ward from the frustration of trying to make this yarn do knit-one-below or cables. Drop stitches might be easy, tho. I'll finish the blanket because it's a gift, but I'll never buy this yarn again.

and 8 of those skeins were great. The other skein of yarn had many breaks ...
I made an afghan using about 9 skeins of this yard, and 8 of those skeins were great. The other skein of yarn had many breaks in it. Not like the yarn was weak and pulled apart, but like it just stopped. Rather than having 1 long length of yarn, this skein of yarn had 5 or 6 shorter lengths. This meant I had knots all throughout one section of my afghan, and additional length was wasted in having to tie the ends of all these lengths. It was very frustrating. Unfortunately, I didn't know it was a defective skein until it was far too late. The other skeins were perfect. The yarn was perfect for a thick cuddly blanket and the colors are gorgeous. The color variations are much prettier once the yarn is knitted/crocheted, because instead of being jumbled together as you see in the skein you will see there are streaks of all the different colors. I attached a picture so you can see the streaks. The colors are much better in person.

Gorgeous Autumn tones
Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the product. Gorgeous brown tones that are perfect for what I had in mind. Was afraid it would be a flat, dark brown. Not a bit of it! Only reason didn't give it 5 is because I haven't used it yet.

enough to make a wonderfully soft and beautifully shaded pastel coloured wrap or shawl
This was a huge ball of yarn, enough to make a wonderfully soft and beautifully shaded pastel coloured wrap or shawl. Easy to work with. Good value for the money. Can't wait to see other colours in person.
