Fishpond Tomahawk Fly Tying Kit Bag

Attractive and seems to be well made for the most part. I've had this bag for a few months, have taken one fishing trip with it in tow. Many pockets and compartments for tying materials and tools. The zippered compartments are easy to see through in order to identify your materials. Didn't like how the plastic tubes for thread spools are attached using the Velcro tabs. The Velcro attachment is stronger than the adhesive holding the Velcro tabs to the tubes so when you remove the tubes, the Velcro tabs do come off. One suggestion to Fishpond is to consider stiffening the sides of the bag to add more security to potentially fragile materials or accessories that may be in the bag. I put my magnifiers w/ head strap in the bag but have to be careful of where the bag is placed when packing in order to not crush and break them. It is roomy and carries everything that I need to tie flies on the road, I would definitely purchase this again.

I know have about 8 Fishpond products from large waterproof bag to waterproof backpack to this bag. I'll be buying more too. Their quality, features and styling are always great.

Pros: spacious, durable, easy to useCons: pouches are just a little to short to accommodate a full saddle on its card in its zip lock, thread tubes are kinda chincey, and the Velcro that holds them in is stronger than the glue they used to attach to the tubes (easily remedied),A bit over priced, in my mind this is a $120 bagI travel every week with my kit on commercial flights, carry on is no big deal,fits in the overhead nicely.It accommodates my Regal Revolution w/ pocket base fairly well, but then makes it pretty heavy to travel with...I removed the Plano style box it came with and Velcro’ed in my dubbing dispenser boxes in its placeOverall, very happy w this product and would buy again

Excellent bag

I replaced my old, hard sided Fishpond fly tying bag with the new Tomahawk bag. It is a clearcut improvement over the old bag. There is much more room within it and the absence of hard sides makes it easier to pack. It still has all of the neat pockets, containers and ziplock bags for storing all kinds of material.

Holds everything I have easily with more room to spare. Awesome back. Looks great. Wish the price wasn’t as steep.
