Mandatory for thick fireclay sinks
We bought a Ruvati fireclay sink and an EZ Waste king disposal, the EZ version would not mount to this sink as the bottom of the sink was too thick for the EZ mount flnage. Returned EZ version and went with the 3 bolt version of the wasteking but the mounting flange (the drain part you see while doing dishes) is also too short. If you are buying a legit fireclay sink (think actually thick bottomed sink) you will need this part. Wasteking could eliminate this by adding another centimeter to the flange depth to accommodate probably 99.9% of the sinks but then they couldnt bilk you out of another $30 or so. Still went w WK as the plastic housing seemed a wiser choice than other brands to eliminate the rusting out of the housing.

Good product
This is a good product when you have a fireclay, or natural stone sink (very thick) and the factory supplied flange is not long enough to get the disposal mounted. I would like to point out that this does not come with any screws and the screws that came with the disposal were just barely long enough to make this product work. It would be nicer if the manufacturer included longer screws, since I think there is a small fraction of sinks where this flange and the factory screws would not work (ie the screws would not be long enough to secure the flange in place). It did work for me though and I imagine you could pick up some compatible screws from the hardware store.

exactly what I needed
I was replacing my old Insinkerator garbage disposal with a new Wasteking 9980 3-bolt mount, but the supplied flange was not long enough due to the white corian sink hole being much thicker than the typical stainless steel sink, so I just needed a longer flange. I dropped this one in, and I was now able to get the mounting ring to lock onto the three little flared tabs on the flange and all is well. There was even a plastic dress flange that fit inside the old flange (which was stainless) to color match the sink, and this even fit inside this new flange. Although I did not need to use the plastic flange, it does match the slightly off white appearance of the sink better then the pure white flange, so it looks like nothing ever change, except for a beast of a new disposal capability.I could not find this flange at any local retail places, and the local places did not even have a stainless extended flange, so thank you Amazon for have some fairly niche products!

It is just fine, but I wish they made one a bit ...
It is just fine, but I wish they made one a bit more shallow. My new cast iron sink was exactly a half inch thick around the drain. The chrome mount that came with the garbage disposal and the brushed nickel mount from the hardware store were not quite deep enough, so the next step up was this one, It is about an inch deeper than it needs to be for my application.

Don't Believe All the Reviews--I Didn't Need It
Two major disappointments with this item--first and foremost, I didn't need it! After reading numerous reviews of farmhouse sinks that said the normal Waste King disposal flange neck was too short for the thickness of that style sink, I purchased this extended flange to go with my new Waste King 9980 Disposal, so my plumber could install it in one go with the sink. Lo and behold, he said the regular flange that comes with the 9980 is fine and the extended flange is too tall and will not work.So beware, anyone buying a Kohler Whitehaven or similar cast-iron farmhouse sink, not all sinks have bottoms too thick to use the standard flange.Second, I bought this flange in white, and as noted by other reviewers, it came out of its plastic wrapper with pits and gouges in the white paint, as if it had been used for years already.Bottom line--I didn't need it, it was pitted, so it is going back.

Must for cast iron sinks
It works, easy to install, great quality. It's a must for cast iron sinks. The only thing is that it requires a sink strainer or something like it to prevent spoons and small objects from falling in. I could not use the sink strainer that I had. The opening is a bit larger. We just happened to purchase one, 1 month before we needed to replace the Insinkerator. I used this for the Waste King model 9980.

Excellent Quality, Excellent Price!
Needed this extended flange to install our new Waste King 9940 Legend Series 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Operation Waste Disposer, due to the thickness of our fireclay farm sink. The fit and finish are exceptional; no stamped name or logo on the exposed flange rim, just smooth stainless steel! This flange sells for more than double this price elsewhere (as do extended flanges for most other disposer manufacturers). Installation of both the Waste King flange and disposer were a breeze, and we are thrilled with both the quality or value.

It fits barely
I had to purchase this because the one that came standard with the disposal was too short for my old cast iron sink. This one was almost too long given the screws that came with it. The screws are just long enough to hold everything in place with not a millimeter to spare.
