Brother BP61GLL 8 1/2in x 11in High Gloss Inkjet Paper (20 sheets)

So I've been using some HP prem glossy photo paper in my Brother MFC-J4710DW.And boy what a PIA, heavy black lines smear - trailing black tails, other colors smear while printing, just not right.Tried all sorts of setting and changes to the graphics and color choices, but would still wind up with feathering of colors and streaks.I got it to the point where 99% of the image and borders of colors were fine, but there would be some sort of streak somewhere that could be seen in the white areas of the image / printout. Been driving me nuts.Also had to wait for like an hour for it to not smear when handled.So I bought the Brother paper...Just ran a printout, and it's all nice and clean with the brother paper in the brother printer, go figure.waited about 5mins, and seems it wont smear to the touch.There are two brother glossy paper p/n's on Amazon, and I was wondering like others.So I bought a package of the BP61GLL and also of the BP71GLTR.The difference between the BP61GLL and BP71GLTR is :BP61GLL is 9m thick (51 lb)andBP71GLTR is 10m thick (69 lb).When holding a piece of each, it's a minor difference.A print out on both was far far far better and perfectly clean compared to the HP glossy photo paper.(you'll find my same review on the other p/n as well.)

The photos I've printed look better than what I get at the chain drug store. Which might be a reflection on the printer as much as the paper. When I look at it under magnification I can see the dot pattern but I can't with my naked eye. The colors are close to what I see on my screen, but they are NOT exactly what I see. I'm a Photoshop user and I use RBG color matching try to get what I saw on film to the printer. I'm able to get pretty close but no cigar! Still, this is a work center printer and not one designed for photos... and the ink and the paper is very inexpensive. I've printed several of my old photo that I won't mind hanging on a wall... as long as they're behind glass.

Personally I prefer other brands of photo paper. This one seems very slightly lighter weight than what I am used to. It is fine for most of my photo projects, however, but I have major disappointments with the Brother Printer I bought and will not buy another. HP holds up so well when it comes to all around printing of documents and photographs. Other brands of paper won't feed properly in the Brother printer I have, and so that's the difference between the lighter weight and the "feel" of the HP papers, and even the 80 lb cover stock I sometimes use for photos. Brother won't feed that paper at all. Rats!

The reason I bought this paper is not from printing photos, but rather printing my Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts on for heat transfer of the layout onto my PCBs. I use a laser jet printer to transfer the toner onto the paper and run it through my laminator to transfer it onto my PCB. I've used other photo papers, but it is next to impossible to get the paper off of the board without ruining the circuit layout. This paper absorbs the water after transferring the toner onto the PCB and becomes soft enough to remove and leave all your pads and traces intact. Great paper for that!

I was preparing photos to use as evidence in a court case and I needed clear detailed impressive and vibrant color pictures. I had some other photo paper that I had used on a regular basis. When I tried the Brother BP61GLL paper, I scraped the previous pictures and created a whole new set of photos using the Brother photo paper. I will never use any other photo again. The difference is indescribable. Don't be swayed by the price of "cheap or on-sale photo paper". If you want the best photos, buy the best paper.

Used to be that pictures produced on my Brother inkjet machine were "wet" when they came out. The black ink especially sat in almost bubbles on the paper. I researched a little on ink types and paper types and decided to try the Brother paper - I was already using the Innobella ink. And, yesterday I printed a picture (of course I selected the correct Brother paper type on my printer setup screen) and the print came out looking DRY and it was great. So paper does make a difference!

I highly recommend this paper if you are using a Brother printer, no other brand paper will print as well with your Brother printer! The paper is very glossy, which is great, only downside is that this paper is incredibly thin and the gloss scratches VERY easily!
