GREAT BOOK FOR STYLING YOUR HOME
I've been a fan of Emily Henderson since she won Design Star on HGTV years ago so I was happily anticipating her book and wasn't disappointed since her and I have a very similar style. I find inspiration and ideas all through this book but I can see how those with a minimal aesthetic or more traditional style would be disappointed. Emily's style definitely leans to mid-century and boho, as many reviewers have pointed out, and many of the rooms she designs and showcases fall into one or both of those categories. The inside look at this book on Amazon features many pictures that are true to those styles so If you aren't a fan of what you see there, don't buy it...there's a lot more of the same on the inside pages. One of the things I like best about Emily is that she sometimes thinks "outside of the box" in some of her design choices and I enjoy the unexpected quirkiness she can bring to a room. I like a bit of "organized clutter" on a bookshelf and think a coffee tablescape is a great way to make a living room more inviting. If you are into that, Emily offers some great tips. The only thing about this book that I didn't care for was the style test. If styling or designing a home is your vocation, it might be a good tool for evaluating a potential clients' style but it didn't help me and was a wasted chapter in an otherwise very informative book.

Good -- but not what I was looking for...
Just finished reading the book, and while it was decent, it was not what I was looking for. The book is more about staging rooms for photographs than it is for designing and setting up rooms to live in. If that's what your looking for, then there's probably something in there for you. Reading the book did open my eyes to a few things. For example, my penchant for large substantial furnishings is working against me in the spaces I have to work with. The examples and photos in the book clearly showed that. It gave me a better appreciation for the sense of proportion that needs to be achieved when designing / arranging rooms in your home. This is the first book I've read on interior design. I started into the subject because I'm not satisfied with how my house is set up and functioning. Some of my problems are because I have a lot of "things" (mostly books), and not enough storage to handle them all. But, I've been disappointed in my search for guidance so far because pretty much every design book / resource I've found is aimed at women. Don't get me wrong: my place could use a little "softening up", but pink floral patterns simply aren't going to happen! I need to find some additional resources.

They deliver what they advertise, is my experience.
I like the prices of Hippo books plus, it's been my experience that they ship on time and, to date, any book I have bought has been as described. When more than one seller has a used book I am looking for, I will go with HIPPO so long as competitively priced.

4 stars for the photos...
The photos alone are worth the purchase price of this kindle edition. I deeply appreciate the living room section where the author shows one sofa in several different design styles. If she'd done more of this (perhaps for each room), I would have happy given 5 stars and more enthusiasm. I really like the fact that the interiors are not stuffy, snobby or over-styled. The rooms make me think that fun was had while decorating and the spaces are approachable - as in, these spaces look like someone actually LIVES in them just the way they are in the photos. Super refreshing! The looks are a mix of styles, there are no home store floor sets here - thank gawd! If you are looking for fussy traditional this book is not for you. If you're looking for youthful, fun functionality that's inviting - get this book. She will shown you how to confidently decorate a space you really enjoy living in (and she shares a list of stores and her go-to paint colors).

I thoroughly enjoyed this book
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! I am a home decorating book and magazine junkie, so I have read a lot of them. I always wondered why my house looked nice, but never like the pictures I see in these books and magazines. Now I know why! This book tells you how to take it a step further and "style" your house. It offered a very different perspective from everything else I have read. I also was quite surprised at my results on the style test. I always thought that I was something different and when I took the test in the book, I couldn't believe what style it said I was. I thought, this is so wrong, but then read the description and thought this is exactly what I like. Now that I have more of a direction, I think that I can cull my accessories and artwork a bit better. This book was just so informative! I just loved it and will probably read it again! Just awesome!

The decor is cluttered and fussy. Avoid if you like minimalist or simple decor.
I bought this book because it was well reviewed but it was the wrong choice for me as I like uncluttered, fairly minimalist decor which is antithesis of what is presented in this book. Every available surface is covered with vignettes of mismatching and to me discordant items, some of them frankly quite bizarre to look at. There were too many objects and too many patterns. Why would you want a row of four chairs at the end of your bed or a weird looking plants encased in an enormous glass cases? There is some good advice on colour and especially the use of tone, and high and lowlights and a quiz on your design style, I came in as liking a 'Zen' style of decor, which is pretty accurate and is not what this book is about! If you like busy, patterned and a 'maximalist' look, thIs may be the book for you.

Great book to have
Love this book. great for people interested in making their homes prettier. The author seems very sweet and nice - I thought she was British but turns out she is American. Her style is not for everyone though. I would say quite of an emphasis on vintage stuff - flea markets and antique shops are essentials for getting to the kind of style she promotes.

Disappointing
I was disappointed with this book. There are a few helpful general hints, but it is very much aimed at people wanting to style a corner temporarily for an Instagram photo rather than styling for improving a house. Came across as very shallow and somewhat annoying, though the author's humour is charming!

Great guide on how to build your interior style
I simply love this book and have already read through it several times! The photography is gorgeous and the tips are very helpful and creative. Emily encourages you to mix things up when decorating your home and I love the eclectic and creative look she has given the rooms that she has included on the book. While the book gives example of how to create great interior shots for for instance a blog, these tips are easily transferred to creating a stylish and well presented home.

Pretty good book with lovely photography
Apart from the slightly silly style quiz at the start this is a good book with a lot of clever ideas for styling your home. Yes - a lot of it is in a particular type of style but the ideas are very adaptable to whatever your own style is.
